paul555sti Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 With my bugeye wrx andy used the rear heated demister button to switch between the two boost settings.
speech Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 As said above, nothing extra is needed for this. What Andy will do is set it up for a low and high boost setting and to change from one to the other you just have to put the foot to the floor and double press the rear de-mister button. Also worth remembering (and I'm sure Andy will tell you this as well!) if you disconnect your battery or it goes flat then the ECU will default back to the low boost setting, so you will need to change it back to high boost using above mentioned method! I remembered this after changing the steering wheel the other day and thinking "this feels a bit weak" when I drove off later!! Only ever set mine in low boost when I'm going away with work and there's a chance the wife will be driving the car!!

thewelsho Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 feu thought i might of needed a avc-r boost controller. thanks 4 the info that will save some cash What you need is a pre MY06 car. The reason that you can have twin boost maps is down to the design of the ECU. The ECU has two boost maps already available; one is used for automatic cars, the other for manual cars. So at manufacture stage the correct map is chosen for the relevant car at installation. However, with Andy's bag of tricks he is able to use both of these maps and allow the driver to switch between them in the aforementioned fashion. People with the Hawkeye cars are not afforded the luxury of twin maps because Subaru no longer produce automatic Imprezas.
oxbig1 Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 lol looks like we'r the lucky 1's then,,, that will b stage 2 sorted and am already thinking about stage 4, skipping 3.
Casper Spec D Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hi mate sounds good what your doing,A know a guy who has a bugeye wrx and he had his re-mapped by andy with the twin boost function and he said its great for the winters, snow and the bad weather or when you need to be sensible saves you on fuel and when he wants to have fun well its only a botton touch away.
dipsy Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Just have the one boost setting on the Jdm .I did not won't the two stage boost set up and i am sure Andy said he would need to down load the software on the Jdm ecu to do the two stage boost setting

We're working on developing this feature on the romraider project and I'm hopefully testing map switching ability on my car over the coming weeks. If anyone wants this functionality for free then keep an eye on the Romraider website: www.romraider.com. Woof Woof.
