stevenhiggster Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I need to get my hands on a new 2.5 sti block, I know exactly where I can get one from (a Subaru dealer), but I'm not really wantin to pay the prices. So does anyone know anywhere I can get one for a decent price? I saw a group buy going on a while back for them anything like that going on just now? I don't really want a refurbed one I'd rather a new one. Thanks in advance amigo's

I take it you're pulling together a built unit?
fai17 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 i know where 1 is if you are interested...do you want a bare block or do you want a STI spec block?
colin_ross Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I think Wuz has one for sale, might be worthwhile dropping him a pm.
stevenhiggster Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 I'm putting it into my '97 sti, as reccomended by Bill Greer, I'm pretty sure he said I just need the block and oil pump, everything else can be taken from my own engine. I'll have to speak to him again as I'm not sure. I saw your car in there Fai what's it in for?
colin_ross Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 What you need depends on why you're changing engines i.e. blown your old engine or just upgrading.
stevenhiggster Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 What you need depends on why you're changing engines i.e. blown your old engine or just upgrading. Up grading, as my bottom end isn't in the best of condition, and rather than get it sorted I'm just gonna up grade it
colin_ross Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) When you say isn't in the best condition what do you mean? If you have knocking, bearing damage or low oil pressure you may have to buy some additional parts. Edited May 2, 2008 by Playsatan2
jac Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) £1100 for the short engine And no questions asked I will even give you a 24 hour guarantee Edited May 2, 2008 by JAC

fai17 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Who's Alan? and is it a new block? Alan Greer is Bill's son....it's not new but there is no damage to it.
scoobaroo Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 And no questions asked I will even give you a 24 hour guarantee Is this the uprated "Toblerone" block, you mean Jac Marty.
stevenhiggster Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Alan Greer is Bill's son....it's not new but there is no damage to it. Bill never said anything about that so I'm presuming it's already gone or something? I know they were putting an engine into a type r the other day when I was in could've been it?
fai17 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 No....it's in the other unit m8...you would never have seen it..
stevenhiggster Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 No....it's in the other unit m8...you would never have seen it.. Cool I'll ask him about it, I quite fancy the prices on flat 4 for a brand new one though. At least it gives me another option
