Mot Time Today.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My scooby is going in for its yearly MOT check, iv checked most things over today and took it for a little ride, Im cutting it close on the MOT and TAX side of thngs as they both run out today DOH!

Just another note as im driving on Day insurance today to get the car to the MOT centre and back, this day certificat i have printed off wouldent legally allow me to buy new tax would it?

As hell am i spending £2300 on insurance just to tax the car for £180 (12months) when i know it will only be drivie to shows and back this year (At the most)

Any info would be grand

If i cant retax it then from tomorrow onards its going in the granparents garage for the rest of the year lol.

Cheers Monki nuts.

did the same thing at the start of april monki.

kept thinking in march must book it in for mot....

never did and in the end was lucky my local dealer is so accomodating and they fitted me the next day which happened to also be the day it ran out !

and i forget the service book so still need to take that back to have it completed as they did a service to on the same day. and lent me a loverrly little Ford Ka to come home in :rotfl:

£2300 !

and i thought £600 ish we pay was bad !

hmm interesting question Monki - tbh if you have valid insurance on the day you apply for the tax then i dont see why they would be able to refuse you ? if tomorrow you are found to be driving the car without insurance then ofc you will be contravening the law....but as long as you have a valid insurance certificate when you apply for the car tax i dont see any grounds for refusal ?

Top stuff mate :rotfl: Thats exsactly how i was thinking with buying Tax, And as you are right if im found to be driving it when the day tax has expired then its my doggie doo doo im in

But im not that stupid any way.

Yeh £2300 is alot thats why i opted for £25 a day, day insurance, with the shows i go it it work aout alot lot lot less :P

See this monki does have "Some" brains lol.

Well it was a expensive item last year as a daily driver, and racked up around 7k or so(ish)

Nothing wrong with a high milage scooby(If thats what you was implying) as i know alot of scooby are reliable past 100k provided they are used and treated well

I just thought i'd better check to see when my MOT is up as I thought it was soon...but its not due until July

Ben - I would check with the people who issued the 1 day insurance if the certificate would allow you to get tax.

Good luck Monki

I know Kev brought you up to Combe a couple of weeks ago, but we would miss you from the shows if your car is totally off road.

fingers crossed MOT is fine and tax is possible.

Is there no-one else who can insure your car with you as a named driver to bring the costs down ?
