How I Was Beaten By A Peugeot 807

Whilst travelling north bound on the M74 this evening I was passing an 807 (big people carrier thing). I was doing the speed limit in no rush to get anywhere and it was doing under the limit and had been seen doing so for at least 2 miles. As I pulled along side it the guy driving must have felt that I had questioned the size of his manhood so simply had to show me that he really was the big man and roared the french diesel cast iron turd into life and slowly but surely crept away from me.

I was truly humbled by the massive performance as it roared like a tractor on acid into the roadworks with the posted 50 limit doing at least 80mph.

Snap! I get the same thing happening to me all the time.

But in this case it’s me in my little diesel van pottering along the motorway at 65, come up to a slow going car doing about 60 so I move out to overtake and then usually as I’m alongside them, they see the little van and for some reason feel that they need to prove their manhood against my 1.7d and leave me hanging in the outside lane.

Spent quite a few thousand miles on the road in the last 14 months and every week some n0b surprises me with another completely dumb road manoeuvre!

Think its time for missiles in the headlights that'll sort the eejits out!

Exact same happens to me every single goddam day, i'm sitting with cruise control on at a gps 70mph and have been for the last 100miles, come alongside some tosspot in his rep wagon only for him to accelerate to 71mph..... Of course I pull back in, and LO AND BEHOLD! the guy drops his speed again...... really REAALLY annoying... Rant over, much love

I never get this kind of thing. Usually, when I get close to people on the motorway, they move over and sometimes even when I don't want/expect them too. The only time people have a go is on the very odd occasion when I nip into the inside lane to get ahead of traffic queues at lights. Last night a guy in a Citreon Xantia tried it... tut tut.
