colin_ross Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 (edited) JDM Impreza WRX & WRX STi Ver.V/VI MY99-00 TY754VBAAA 3.166 1.882 1.296 0.972 0.738 3.333 1.000 4.444 Viscous (4kgf) Open Bellhousing attachment changed from 4 to 8 points (all models) So it's a 4.4 with the good (strong) phase 2 casing. A good gear-set would be all you require if a full box can't be sourced. Edited April 18, 2008 by Playsatan2

How do you tell from the code? are you saying I can safely have this one rebuilt?
colin_ross Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Phase one boxes start with ty752, phase two's start with ty754. The good news is that you have the newer, better, stronger casing. If you chose to buy a complete box your casing alone is worth a few quid. If you decide to drop in an sti or ppg gear-set you have the best possible home for one. And to top it all off it's Friday afternoon. Woohoo.

fai17 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-sale-gene...-look-here.html What are you waiting for Chris...get on the case.
ScoobySounds Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 What are you waiting for Chris...get on the case. peter, thanks I have my eye on that! and cheers sefar for posting.. I've got a plan though, and it could work out exceedingly cheap if it works. I'm going to buy an identical box that has 2nd gear busted, for dirt cheap, and I mean dirt cheap, and get SteveW to work his magic to make one good one. I wouldn't lose too much if it doesn't work and THEN i'll probably just buy that one from snet snot. I've pm'd the guy anyway on snot to say that I could be interested!
ScoobySounds Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 yeah I was, but there was some kind automatic bidding system on it so didn't get it.. And the snet guy hasn't got back to me, so i'll try him again now.

tidgy Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 lol also shock loadings can be a big issue, so if your thinking of doing any off the light action then you wanna seriously be thinking about a very strong box
thewelsho Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 lolalso shock loadings can be a big issue, so if your thinking of doing any off the light action then you wanna seriously be thinking about a very strong box What do you mean by shock-loading? Is that like dumping the clutch and hammering the accelarator on gear changes?
colin_ross Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 What do you mean by shock-loading? Is that like dumping the clutch and hammering the accelarator on gear changes? Exactly. Also flatshifting if you're brave enough.
thewelsho Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 flatshifting I'm guessing this mean not lifting off the gas during changes but instead, leaving it flat to the floor?
colin_ross Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Thats it. Might give it a go this year if I feel that the times aren't what they should be.
thewelsho Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Thats it. Might give it a go this year if I feel that the times aren't what they should be. What bad things does that do? Burn out the clutch? Are there any benefits other than saving a tenth of a second on each change?
colin_ross Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 What bad things does that do? Burn out the clutch? Are there any benefits other than saving a tenth of a second on each change? Clutch and box take a real doing. It stops the boost falling away during gear changes and yes will save you a few tenths on each shift.
ScoobySounds Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 done done and done bought the box off Snet and getting sent straight to SW motorsport so should be kerb crawling again in a week! I mean, er, ....
