Hypertech - Experiences?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm new and have just begun to tweak. smile.gif

This is a re-post from General - I didn't think to post it in Scottish. Doh!

I've mentioned before that I'm having Hypertech's 'Fast Road' geometry applied and wondered if anyone has experience of it - what did you think?

A multi-Scooby-owning friend swears by it and reckons it's a must-have mod. At the price, I'll try it and make up my own mind, but I'm interested in others' opinion nonetheless.

Got the fast road settings on my track car...and the handling is just stunning.......

on a side note...your thread title is quite misleading...I understand you aren't looking for comments on Hypertech as a whole but on the fast road setup that they offer......might be better to add that....

Fraser, the fast road setting do improve handling mainly be reducing understeer. That said though, these settings IMO are no more than a compliment to other installed handling mods, like stiffer suspension, droplinks ALK and ARBs (not that you need all of them). I actaully got the settings at the same time the car was lowered, so I can't really comment on the settings alone - but needless to say the change was quite dramatic!

Ask Duncan at Hypertech when you are there and he'll keep you right. They are always happy to help.

I had the fast road settings without any mods and it has made the steering more positive. I don't think it is night and day different but then i'm still on the winter tyres so that might have somethign to do with it! Certainly value for money though and on a sweeping bend you do know much more of what the car is doing. The most noticable time is when you are really trying to scoot along and maintain a good pace.

Well, I'm glad you're comfortable with it... let's say, if I drop my wallet around you, I'll be kicking it over to the wall before I bend over to pick it up :)

No, I was looking for general comments on them too, Paul.

Anyway, was there today. Everyone totally friendly and helpful (even the dogs were nice to me!), so I don't think I need have any worries on the 'general' score. :rotfl:

Exactly my experience so far - the actual 'driving' of the car doesn't feel much different - at least when just pootling home from the garage in the rush hour - but the steering feels MUCH nicer. I'm on my new summer (well, all-year actually!) tyres (moved up to 18s from 17s) and the settings have made the car feel much less 'jiggly' and 'squirmy'. Can't comment on the effects when pressing on yet, but frankly, the above experiences make it great value anyway. :rotfl:
