AlanG Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) It's one "big" plug at the bottom of the gearbox John. Place a container underneath, undo plug and just let it fall into the container, you can pick it out later when the box has finished draining. Edited March 19, 2008 by AlanG
scoobzie Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 it should be a 16/17 mm socket john like alan said thats all you do
thewelsho Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) it should be a 16/17 mm socket john like alan said thats all you do Ok, I take it the gear box is the big cast thing attached to the back of the engine, yes? Therefore near the front end of the car? I see there is a little square cast type thing at the back too, man I can see a disaster looming. Oh, I menat to say: I drove the car and It goes ok without sounding worse, but I can't select third gear. Edited March 19, 2008 by TheWelsho
st3ph3n Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Congratulations John, you've had a gearbox meltdown.

Na, I jacked it up and crawled under it and there is all this plastic sh17 everywhere, The only thing that I can see, is a big round plug-type thing but its not a normal nut. It has a kinda star-shaped indention in it and looks like it needs a special tool to undo it. Its all out of my league, I think I'll drive it to the stealers on Firday and bend over. fai17 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 If you have subru assistance you can get them to the nearest subaru garage for free....or If you have AA/RAC you get them to take it to the nearest dealer of your choice....
