AlanG Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I'd like to mention a little appreciation for being part of the membership in The Scottish Scoobies Section and i'll tell you why. A couple of months back, a forum member asked for recommendations for people or companies that were recommended for painting either parts of, or complete cars. As I was looking into this at the time and had a shortlist of companies to go and see, I went down to a company mentioned on here called: JB Coachworks in Well Street, Paisley. I chose to use them over the others i had been looking at cause one thing that struck me in talking to the owner Jim Biggam and that was a sense of pride in their workmanship. I commissioned them to carry out works on an Impreza and the only word that can describe the end result is "stunning"! The attention to detail and quality of work is 100%. The car looks like a shiny new pin, so i'm wholeheartedly giving Jim, Andy and Lee a very big thankyou for the time and effort they've put into this. Over the course of the last few weeks, they've always made time to help, advise and answer any questions or queries i've had on the car and have went out their way to ensure that the car was done the way i wanted it done. In this day and age when so many bodyshops are governed and restricted by time and monetory constraints, therefore end quality can take a back seat, it's nice to know that there are still some companies out there with pride in their workmanship that put the customer first and foremost, so if anyone is looking for bodywork done or parts needing painting, I would say you would be hard pushed to find a better quality result. To Jim and the boys, this Impreza is show quality material. JB Coachworks Jim Biggam 54 Well Street Paisley PA1 2QH 0141 842 1465
pmacFTO Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Pics!! Good to have another place added to my list - I tend to go on other ppls experience as any company who understand Word of Mouth tend to do good work
frank c Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Good to hear Alan..places like these seem far and few between. But since there is no pics..you've really got me guessing
thewelsho Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 PICS!!! Alan, was it a full repsray or was it soemthing smaller. I have the odd little ding or two that I will have to get sorted out in due course, is this kind of work too small for them? I work within a few minutes of this place so it would be handy for me.
Richie Cross Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 That's a coincidence! I was about to post the exact same thing. To my embarrassment after 14 years of driving, I recently reversed into another car for the first time!!! Had a search on the forums and read a post from Subarstar who recommended JB Coachworks as he is picky with his cars. Like Alan, I went to have a chat first and was very impressed. Jim is a really good guy. Showed me where they mix it and how he wouldn't have any problem matching my Crystal Grey. He said he also uses paint that is the Rolls Royce of paints. Got it back a couple of days later and I was very happy. £235 inc VAT. I have no idea if this is good but I was happy enough. I now might go and make my bonnet stone chip free for £150 inc VAT
G.Mac Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 mmm, I think I will take my Morette's there and get them done properly Graeme
Carson Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 well known in paisley for a right good job. Thumbs up from me
AlanG Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 Just back from picking the car up, so a bit late in replying. I'll try and get some pics on here tomorrow, hopefully it'll be a nice day for pic taking. The work on this car was a full respray, but the pictures won't do justice to the time and effort put in to the preparation stages before it was sprayed. No job is too big or small John ("The Welsho"), so worth your while to pop in and checkout the outfit yourself. I'm sure they'll be able to show you samples of their workmanship. Richie Yes, I seen your car in there recently. Wasn't in for long mind you! I haven't seen many in that colour, looked good.
pmacFTO Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Anyone hazard a guess as to what he would charge to stick on an STI8 spoiler (already painted as it came of an STI in same blue as mine) - I just want it to be done right and sealed well so no water ingress...gonna go and see a few places for quotes on Saturday tho
Richie Cross Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 RichieYes, I seen your car in there recently. Wasn't in for long mind you! I haven't seen many in that colour, looked good. Alan....does your car have a carbon bonnet by any chance? There was a Scooby getting a full respray before going down south for an engine fit. I'm sure Jim mentioned something like 700bhp???
fai17 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 I've seen JB work before and they are very good... Plus they are in the local town and 5 mins walk from my shop. I need to get my car looked at when i get it back.
AlanG Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 That's the one Richie. Peter, do you do powerwalking?? I'd struggle to do it in 10 even!
oobster Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 pmac - since this is the thread for recommending good bodyshops - i'd suggest giving Stevie Walker in Bathgate a call, as he's not far from you. 01506 633471. Gus The Bus and I have used Stevie's services in the past and his work has always been top-notch.
pmacFTO Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Aye he is on my list Stevie's name comes up a lot lol!
Richie Cross Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 That's the one Richie. Nice Are you really looking at 700bhp??
AlanG Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) The engine's specced for that Richie. There's NOS to go on too. Edited March 19, 2008 by AlanG
st3ph3n Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 That's the one Richie.Peter, do you do powerwalking?? I'd struggle to do it in 10 even! Peter runs NOS when he walks.
Subarstar Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 That's a coincidence! I was about to post the exact same thing. To my embarrassment after 14 years of driving, I recently reversed into another car for the first time!!! Had a search on the forums and read a post from Subarstar who recommended JB Coachworks as he is picky with his cars. Guilty as charged! JB Coachworks were recommended originally by Seano. After having a chat with Jim, I had the confidence to let him do the works and was delighted with the work I had done. (I had some paint bubbling/corrosion around the offside rear wheel arch) Any future repair works to be carried out and it will be going to JB Coachworks. norry. p.s. glad you other guys are as happy with their work as I was.
