G.T. Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) not a lot to do in irvine apart from the magnum but its past it best imo.theres a restraunt right next to the magnum carpark cant remember the name but you cant not give it a try very reasonably priced too (The Ship Inn) you are only about 10-15mins away from ayr maybe a bit more to do there www.ayrshirescoobies.com maybe the deliverance lot will be able to help you out Edited February 8, 2008 by G.T.
mctwistuk Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 looks like meercat is going to be busy on monday as my car is in getting the centre and backbox treatment. Dropping it off at 08:30. no doubt will bump into you at some point. The craftsmanship they do is superb. This is my second exhaust from them.
nkwrx Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Hi mate, I live in Irvine and as G.T. says there's not much to do. The Magnum is past it's use by date tho the kids may like the pool. There's a decent driving range at the Gailes if you like to hit a ball or go karts in Kilmarnock . That's about it I'm afraid, The Scottish riviera in a nutshell.
uRaBu5 Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 G.T. – Had heard great reports on The Ship Inn, so will have to give there a try – probably Tuesday lunch. mctwistuk – Hope to bump into yourself at some point, don’t think i’ll be there till Monday pm. NKWRX – Definitely bringing the clubs through, the Hotel we are at has a (junior) 9 hole course? So i’ll get the kids on that. Heard there is an RSPB area near Meercat, does anyone know if it’s any good? Wee boy got bird watching stuff for Christmas. Thanks Derek

Thanks Derek If you go the other way from Kilbirnie, towards Lochwinnoch, you can go for walks along there. That's where the bird place is/might be if I remember. I'm only a mile or so from Meercat so I'll maybe pop over and see some members cars!! Edited February 9, 2008 by Richie Cross
ally-b Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 RSPB centre at Lochwinnoch has walks , hides and a good viewing tower - should be some interesting wildfowl at this time of year. http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/l/lo...nnoch/index.asp Al.

Sounds great on tickover and not too loud when the fun pedal is pressed. Car looked and sounded fantastic – sorry had to ask Scott to start it up and let us hear!
uRaBu5 Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Back from Meercat and can only say a huge thanks to Willie (for donating) and Scott (for all his hard work and directing me, it’s in the middle of nowhere)! Car is sounding (not quite loud enough for the kids but nearly bearable for the wife – well until the tunnel on the M8) and looking fantastic (well not everyone’s taste eh Willie). Didn’t go for the standard round tailpipe, but will post up pics tomorrow (too dark now) to let you all see and comment – I do not offend easily! Also thanks to G.T. and ally-b for the Ship Inn (fantastic food – had to wait 30mins for a table on a Tuesday lunch) and RSPB Centre (Buzzard about 100 metres away, sitting on a branch in front of the centre, must have been the sight of the day. Also good to catch up with fai 17 – lovely M3! Thanks again to Meercat Derek
fai17 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Yeah man and it was good to meet you and your family m8.
