oletam Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I'm considering fitting prodrive springs for my 56 Hawkeye WRX. S&S say they will set it up with Prodrive geometry settings but I've also read about a lot of tyre wear on the inside due to the camber, and some people use Fast road settings instead. Does anybody know what they are so that I can try these instead?
mctwistuk Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 can you tell me how much they are taking for this as i an also looking into getting prodrive springs cheers chris
oletam Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 can you tell me how much they are taking for this as i an also looking into getting prodrive springs cheers chris Springs are £225 + fitting, which works out around £350 total minus SIDC discount of 10%
scooby222 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 oletam i can send you the fast road settings ive got for my 05 sti in a couple of days or if Als reading this feel free to forward them. id also highly recomend hypertech to do the alignment, dont know anything bout hypertech but havent had any luck with geo setup from subaru dealers

I was going to get the dealer to set it up initially and if not satisfied take a trip to Hypertech as I've heard great things about them. Edited February 9, 2008 by oletam
mctwistuk Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 don't suppose anyone can tell me if a set of prodrive springs from an 04 STI would fit a hawkeye STI and if not what the difference is???????
oobster Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Think S&S charged me £388 for supply + fit + geometry change but that was probably at least 18 months ago now. I was quite happy with the settings they put on mine (I just said the prodrive settings) but they wore out the inner edge of my front tyres in around 8K. One of these days i'm going to take it over to Hypertech and get them to check/maybe alter the settings. It was Toyo T1S tyres I had on before, which are apparently quite soft sidewalls/shoulders.
scooby222 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 nope they dont, different struts from 05 my onwards i believe so unless its a very late 04 car the springs are different
mctwistuk Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 just been quoted 405 to do this on my car from s&s and that includes sidc discount. Why am i being quoted more?
sti pretender Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I used Ian Grieve when I had mine fitted and got the tracking checked at Barmill (FAI17's recommendation) , think I was just over the £300 but was getting the car serviced as well so not to sure.
thewelsho Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Prodrive settings will cause excessive inner-tread wear. That said, I got 20k out of my tyres (Khumo). If you keep an eye on them and rotate them once in a while, that will help. As for me, I have changed to fast road settings. Dunno the settings but the man that did the geometry knew them. J
bogie Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I've got the Prodrive springs on my Hawkeye WRX fitted and set up (allegedly to Prodrive settings) at S&S, came as part of the deal. Still going to take it to Hypertech to get set up properly though
C_WRX Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 What would the cost be to buy the prodrive springs from Subaru, and have whoever is setting up the geometry fit them at the same time, if possible ? Just a thought, or do Subaru have to fit them ?

Just a thought, or do Subaru have to fit them ? any mechanic could fit springs if he had spring clamps, setting the geometry and getting the car to handle properly is where the skill is

Sorry about this misinformation. I forgot to include vat to the price which should take it to what you were quoted. Apologies again Tommy
