cullenmin Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Can anyone point out the differences between the P1 engine and the 98/99/00 type R engine/s? Rich
Guest Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 nothing mate P1 engine is a version 5 engine mapped for uk fuel with a different gearbox with longer gearing
Hepy Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I didn't think they mapped them for UK fuel. I thought they just increased the knock sensitivity, and added broquets to the fuel tank. P1's deffo had the broquets as I saw them when replacing fuel pump.
RS Grant Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 .....engines are the same but the P1 is not actually mapped for UK fuel, its a stock Version 5 map and they just dropped a fuel broquette into the tank to raise the RON of UK fuel.. once thats disintigrated then thats when the problems start, hence so many have had a rebuild.. at least, that is what was explained to me a while ago when I asked the question. Cheers, Grant
cullenmin Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 I've never heard of a "fuel broquette" Sounds a bit **** of subaru to not map or even have a different ecu, thought that would have been done by Prodrive
Carson Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Impreza-Hayne...1QQcmdZViewItem Buy this book and find out or wait untill its sold and ill tell you anyway! buy buy buy, fund my insuance !
drb5 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I don't think many P1 owners could say they don't use V-Power or similar....maybe even with a touch of octane booster, with their stock ECU'd car. Not everyone will run a Type-R on anything less either, so there isn't any issues at all........mine is still on it's original engine, as is a lot of other owners.
thewelsho Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I've never heard of a "fuel broquette" Me neither, what is that?
