Brembo's On And Over The Moon !

Well after a wee bit of a scutter, got the brake upgrade

finished. Against Geo's advice thought the EBC discs looked

healthy enough and didn't need a skim B) (first mistake).

Got the buggers on the first time and set off doon the kingsway;

instant wobble as soon as the brakes were applied - shi£e,

basta$d shi$e !!!! Off they came again whilst muttering

"shouldv'e listened to geo, should've listened to geo" :D

Anyways 24 hrs after leaving them with Engine Resource

in polepark; back on - sweet as a nut. Had to give the calipers

a quick recoat to freshen them up wi all the bleedin' but hay ho. Even during

the bedding in stage you can tell that they are going to be the business

when used properly. Will try to get a photie or two up during daylight hours.

Quick sum up : Re-painted / re-stickered brembos, mintex 1155's,

braided hoses and some fresh brake fluid - happy bunny, done :D

Am liking the black wheels craig :o

How much did the upgrade set you back? Any recommendations for somone looking to do the same thing?

Chris

nice car mate, black wheels look real nice. the colour makes them look so different, hard to believe its same as what i have

now i know what to look out for on riverside :o

Cars looking fab mate. ;) The wheel-colour and matching calipers is a nice touch. Wouldn't mind powerder coating my track-wheels in this colour (I have the same wheels) but £200 could be spent better elsewhere!

Sorry to butt in AND change the subject but can i ask where you got the front splitter Craig?

BTW your car looks feckin brill ;)

the black calipers are very smart. Did you have to use any special paint for them and how much work is entailed in painting your calipers

Sorry I havnae replied lads, been a busy laddie this weekend.

Thanks alot for all your comments, it makes all the blood, sweat and sweary

words worth it :D

Chris; Got a good price from Geo, but I decided to put new pads on

which set me back another £45, then the discs needed a skim which was £50.

So I think all in I was £500ish, painful but worth it I rekon.

John; My wheels are painted mate, got them done for £80. I kinda gave my painter

free raign (sp?) when it came to choosing a black for the wheels. He ended up using 'Renault Metalic Black'.

It has a subtle green fleck through it, it's pretty smart in the sun (when we get it). Thought it was a bit different

to the ususal flat colour.

Colin; Cheers for the comment mate, got the splitter from HT Autos. Top company, would confidently

recommend them to others. The splitter it very robust considering the price, as long as you don't go

careering into kerbs you'll be ok - very good £118 in my opinion :D

G.T. ; The long and the short of it was : strip down calipers / clean thoroughly / key the calipers /

hang the calipers up and coat with 'high temp' black paint / recoat with hammerite gloss black / recoat

with 'high temp' clear coat / apply new stickers / another coat of clear coat / cure in the oven for an hour or

so at a low heat. I also replaced the bleed nipples, they were only a couple of quid from autosave, worth doing.

If you want I have a wee link from sn I can send ya. A lad on there made a really good job of his, albeit he suggests

using degreaser to clean the calipers, don't do this it is way too harsh on the seals as I found out. Luckily they settled

back down from their 'bubbled' state.

Again lads thanks again for the support, yir a braw bunch ;)

1) John; My wheels are painted mate,

2) ...free raign (sp?)

1) Ah! I think I will do this with my track wheels at some point. If it ends up looking a state, so be it, they are only for the track!

2) Reign :):banana2:
