buffalo Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 maybe its just me but the lights in my new age feel like candles in a tin can compared to my xenons in my last car. anyone recommend some uprated bulbs. looking do to them all. dont want it looking like the wee neds with their blue bulbs, but pure white , obviously the brighter the better and in that sense not really bothered if they are legal.

I have just gone from my FTO which had HIDs to a MY03 WRX and the brightness seems fine but I don't like the yellow hue. I'd also be interested in knowing what Bulbs people upgrade to for fogs, side-lights, dipped and main beam.
oobster Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 http://www.powerbulbs.com/index.asp I think it was the Phillips Blue Vision H1 I put in my blobeye at it made a huge difference.
colzo Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 http://www.powerbulbs.com/index.aspI think it was the Phillips Blue Vision H1 I put in my blobeye at it made a huge difference. I was thinking of these bulbs mate, are they as good as they say? Did you get the sidelight bulbs (they are free if you spent so much)? Are they blue as in boy racer or are they more xenon blue, if you know what I mean?
oobster Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 More xenon blue. Give me 5 mins and i'll go check exactly which ones I bought.
oobster Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Aye, as I suspected, as i was talking utter peesh. The ones I bought are PowerBulbs PowerBlue - H1 fitting, 12V 55W. I also got a free pack of Osram W5W 'Cool Blue' sidelight blubs, 12V 5W. At the time Power Bulbs were doing a BOGOF offer so I only paid for one pair of H1's, got a 2nd set free + 2 pairs of the sidelight bulbs. All were delivered next day. PITA to fit though, if I remember correctly. Definitely made a big difference, and definitely not nove/corsa/saxo boy-racer blue tinge on them.
colzo Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Cheers mate, headlamp out job for the sidelights if I can recall?! Will get some when its not -3 on the thermometer!

Do we need 2 sets btw? One for main and one for dipped? It says H4 for both on their site - but I was not sure if the bulbs were just dual filament ones.

IIR I think you will need HB4's for the full beam and deffo the H1's for headlight/dipped. Thats for a Newage btw. So pmacFTO you must have been looking at the Impreza classic! A lot of places don't seem to list Newage for certain things... I'd always check stuff like that too b4 buying
