gus the bus
the guy also said that all renault people carriers come under the 70% limit as standard, sure he said around 65% Yip, I read that on a site I looked at. Renault, Citroen and Pug have some models that are 62-68%. Yet we still allow them in the Country FFS. Gus Link to comment

They are crash tested but still allowed to be sold despite them being labelled a "dangerous vehicle" that's what it says on the points section of my licence anyway CU20 - Driving a dangerous or defective vehicle.. ^^ (Actual wording may be slightly different but that's close) Link to comment
Enne_aitch
it depends on the tint from factory i had a renault clio. which has a 60% tint on the front drivers and passengers windows as standard. As it happens i was ran into in the clio by a truck and my ins comp werent going to pay out cause the tint were over the legal limit. The place i went to said if he would add a "light smoke to the window what he didnt tell me was it would render the windows illegal, with a light smoke being a %30 tint putting my actual visibility to %90 tin on the front when i look back at it i had to put the windows down to see at junctions at night... so yeah prob were too dark. but i got a letter from the tint shop saying he had supplied a light smoke to the front and they accepted that. i guess it would be different if it was the police and they had a testing unit. Jimmy321
So i put 30% tint film on the front of my car, i guess that Subaru windows already tinted about 10%? (although i could swear they were clear). That means the cars illegal? I'm seriously thinking about taking them off. The last (and only) time i had 3 points my insurance went up a few hundred quid. When the officers had a chat with me about it they explained that the car they had (that i was sitting in the back of) was just slightly inside the legal limit and it was factory glass Vauxhall Omega IIRC, looked like plain glass to me. So yeah easy to get caught out.. e..g my tints could have been sold as begin legal.. But the tints + factory tints were enough to put them just over the limit.. I try and recommend to people now, to remove front tints if they have them.. I wasn't one of the "I'll never get caught" folk.. I genuinely didn't realise the extent of the fine that would be put on me.. So for anyone thinking "I'll get away with it" Your just lucky... IMHO.... Link to comment
