richie1985 Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Thanks Neil.Richie, sell it private and buy this Al my car is now on pistonheads just waiting for someone to buy it then i can buy yours or one similar to yours!
buffalo Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 i am presuming it was the sti variant that left you standing as i never had a problem dispatching wrx's in my 182 and the only civic type r that passed me was supercharged. thats sum impressive quotes on your insurance, i had a bit of trouble with insurance that why i opted for the wrx over the sti though exhaust and a map will hopefully be on by the end of the year. if i were you i'd buy an sti as its got around 40 brake over the wrx with plenty of tuning potential and in my opinion killer style. good luck with the sale too, i tried for a bit but in the end traded in. bad time of year. hope you get the car you want
Guest Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 know where your coming from ritch im 24 and was in a similar scenario at 21 but seriously struggled to get insured ended up buying a VR6 which i still have. the bird has now told me i need to buy a house before im aloud a scoob but thats what she thinks lol. When i was 21 though i only had 1NCD and a few points and was given quotes of 2k+ for a standard uk turbo i now have 4 years NCD and no points and quotes are still about 1k for the likes of a P1 and about 7 or 800 for a uk turbo. A thing u have to remember the running costs they are going to be alot more than your type-r as are parts!!

Guest Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 i was mearly saying that i had problems getting insurance when i was your age but good on ya if u can get it. U defo want a new age? what about a V7 STI good cars better engines and a nice strong 6 speed box plus you would get some change out of 10.5k.

Totally different car to drive - I've always wanted a Subaru and that's why i changed...the Type-R in the winter/wet was always a "cautious" drive, much more fun in the summer. Besides, when my wife drove the Type-R seemed to go through front tyres a lot, the 1st gear wheel spin always got her ! For me, I had a little bit more cash, and went for a WRX with a years warranty and low mileage rather than an older STi and/or higher mileage - the Blobeye look appealed to me more too. Over the last year I've spent money on bits and bobs which in some ways suppose make it look STi'ey. False economy in the long run but didn't want to borrow anything extra at the time to get an STi. For your budget guess your looking at a 2004 WRX or 2002 STi - average miles. You might find a little better if you look long enough, plus it's not a great time for people/garages selling cars so deals to be done. Decide what's important to you - power / look / age / mileage / etc and that'll give you an idea what you start looking for. Good look with the sale/search - the smile will appear long before you get out the car - WRX or STi if you've never been in one !
