ScoobyDougie Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Just got 2 Goodyear F1's at Prestige Tyres (located in Busby) last week. Friendly, good service and a reasonable price. Cheers for that. Used them in the past. Unfortunately the base plate from their jack stuck to the underside of my car. Didn't notice until i was on my way home when the plate finally dislodged and bounced between the road and the underside of my car! Only minor underseal damage, but what p155ed me off was the guys total lack of concern when i phoned to tell him what had happened.
frank c Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I think I'll put my 16's back on for the winter. They have fairly new Eagle F1's on them and i can't fault them when driving in the wet or bad weather. Thanks for the reminder.
stuarted Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 ESP? Whereabouts? They were in Possil but inn the process of moving down next to Partick train station. Guaranteed no scratches
st3ph3n Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I've got to say that the Eagle F1s I have on my car have been nothing short of amazing. Grip, road noise, wear - all fantastic. I use them summer or winter with much success.
craig79 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I'm all for toyo proxes T1-R's. Not long had them to comment on wear but grip in the wet / dry are pretty inspiring. Got mine through camskill. Think I was £307 incl delivery. Got them fitted at a local tyre dealer (hectyre) for £7 a corner. Hope this helps Craig.
iain01 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I got eagle F1's fitted last month, well impressed with them, especially in the wet. Auto Express carried out a tyre test in this weeks edition and F1's came out top overall. Although they didn't test Toyo's or Yokohamas against them and only tested fwd and rwd cars.

dougie549 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Hi Guys Just to ask aswell. Is it the Egale GSD3s that you have on your cars now? I have had a set on our P1 for 2 years now, and must admit i really love them, grip is brill, break away is spot on and the wear on the scoobs is second to none. Well 2 weels ago we fitted new Alcons to the car and when taking the wheels of we noticed that the tread was split across the width of the tyre, so being a bit shocked we also checked the rest of the tyre, and yes you guessed it all 4 tyre have got various degree's of splits across them, the tyres themselfs have only done tops 7000 miles and there's still about 6mm tread depth left on them. To say i am pissed of is the under statment of the year.Having to pay about £500 for new tyre when theres plenty of tread left is annoying. So i ask you to keep an eye your tyre and keep a hold of your receipt. SO has anyone tried the Yokohama Prada's? i have had Toyo's before and dont rate them like the Goodyear's so any advise. Cheers Dougie
terzo neil Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 looks like manufactoring fault, i would contact the tyre maker

Cheers Dougie Just to clarify mate what tyres are in those photos ?? I would definitely go back to the supplier, if no joy certainly get in contact with the manufacturer. Never seen that in ma life before - obviously a faulty batch or something. It would certainly be best to raise it with someone, not everyone thats maybe bought from the same batch as yourself will have checked their condition, and we all know how nasty a blow out can be ?? iain01 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Being on all 4 tyres could it have been vandalism? Some tw4t with a blade.
dram300 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 This months evo has a big tyre test article - F1s for them. Toyo didn't supply a set on time.
dougie549 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 HI Guys Yes they are bad, and i also know of another person near to me that has the same problem, Deffo not vandilisem as the car is in the garage 99% of the time, I have brought this up with Mytyres where they were bought from and also Goodyear directly. The problem is that i need to buy a new set of tyre's from a dealer, get them to fill in a complaint form and they get picked up from the dealers and investigated, all of which will take 2 weeks tops( Pritty quick) then if they admit fault the company i bought them from with get the refund and then it's passed onto me, the only problem i find is that i can get a set of new tyre's on line cheaper than from the tyre garages, Goodyear have been pritty good though with the explanation of what happens, you will only get a % cost back for the tyre with what amount of tread is left, for example tyres start with 8mm tread, if i have 4 mm left then i would only get 50% back of the cost of the tyre's THAT THE DEALER PAID not what i paid each. And they might still say its nothing to do with the tyre's. I have also found out that Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's are no longer getting made/sold, they are starting to sell the Assimetrials now instead. But Goodyear have a 5 year gaurante on there tyre's Cheers Dougie
sKunk Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I picked up some new alloys yesterday and today I've just bought 4 toyo proxies T1R, 225 40 18, for £355 from camskill delivered. Silly question time, when I've had new tyres fitted on my old 17's the fitters would always put those ugly weights on the outside of the rim during wheel balancing. Are there situations where these weights have to go on the outside of the rim, or should they be using the stick-on weights on the inside of the rim? I don't want ugly weights on the outside of my nice PFF7's. Thanks

colzo Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 There was defo a problem with the Eagle F1s splitting on certain batches, that why I went for Toyo T1Rs. Not driven on the Toyos in the winter but they have got to better than the Bridgestone 070s in the snow!
john mac Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I have just got two 225 40 18" T1 R's fitted on the front .Have always used T1 S's up till now on both my scoobs with no problems ,so these shouldn't be any worse.(we will soon see). Not driven on the Toyos in the winter but they have got to better than the Bridgestone 070s in the snow! That's my hope as well. Just swapped mine over from RE070's to T1R's and hoping that they aren't too bad in the snow.
