TURBOEDD Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 the abs light has come on in my car, i started it and was rolling out my drive when the light went on. the car is a MY00 i just want to know what could have caused the problem and how serious and expensive it might be. cheers
euan_r Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 is abs kicking in when braking gently? mine came on week before mot traced it to failed voltage regulator in alternator. you could try giving the sensors a blast with brake cleaner too as they seem to attract dirt.

st3ph3n Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Mine was coming on at random times, well usually when cornering actually, turned out to be a wheel bearing going knackered.

diffbuster Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 With 99/00 a known fault is water ingress at the plug at the abs pump pull plug off and spray lightly with with water repellent, Failing that after cleaning sensors you can either get it on a multimeter or buy a sensor and try replacing each in turn. hope this helps Gary.
