Just thought i would post this to see what kind of interest it would get, maybe get it printed into stickers if anyone knows someone with a printshop.

Its not the actual size but let me know what you think,or if anyone has another idea's,i think it would look nice on the car and would always remind us of the legend.

Hi there mate, I'm new to the site. That looks real nice and I also would definatley put it on my car.

I have actually just ordered a set of Stickers that rally drivers put on the window with their national flag and surname, the ones I ordered have the saltire and McRae on it, with R.I.P below which I will be putting on my scooby as soon as they arrive.

What a great idea .. :D

Stevie,

not wanting to rain on your parade or anything but there are already 'unofficial' stickers available:

CLICKY for sticker thread - details on how to order bottom of PAGE 2

Also, attendees to RallyDay at Castle Coombe are tying black ribbons to their wing mirrors as a mark of respect.

I think that's a fab idea and will be getting some ribbon myself

You should be able to get them at florists or fabrics/haberdashery shop (place that sells buttons and material)...

format is solid black ribbon, 1 inch wide, 20 inches (500 mm) long, hooped around the drivers side wing mirror and secured at the base with a staple (same shape as the breast cancer ribbon)

Thanks!

lemme work out costs and a price and I'll maybe set-up a group buy type thing for them.

Obviously any profit made will go to whatever selected charity is decided upon. I'll send Phil a PM just now and see what the deal is..

Would deffo be interested in a pair of those!

I think a group buy IS deffo in order. Maybe add a wee bit onto the costs and make a donation to Santa cruise OR a Colin McRae Charity.

I will be buying these too but I think the rally style of the ones ScoUK's produced are more apt.........no harm in having both ;)

Is this a clear sticker, or does it work like vinyls were the contents peel off a backing?

There's a link somewhere in general i think Welsho. You can get both vinyl and sticker. £3.50 and £7.00 if memory serves me right.

Yep, that's right. Here's the linky again.

Just bought a vinyl for my wagon. Have to leave space for my rally stickers when they are available too ;) . I can see our cars being a half second slower to 60 soon with the weight of Colin McRae (R.I.P.) tributes!

A wee bit off topic, where is the best place to get one off vinyl decals. My Mcrae series needs a respray but i want all the original decals replaced after, I want it to look as original as poss. Especially now Colin is no longer with us.

Yep I'll be buying 2 stickers and one vinyl one methinks.. Vinyl for the top right of the rear window and a sticker for each side of my rear wing (if I ever finish the spray painting of it)

Is this a clear sticker, or does it work like vinyls were the contents peel off a backing?

The "sticker" is a clear/transparent square with the text and signature printed on it. One of the best ways to present fine detailed stuff. Producing the signature part in vinyl alone is tricky as it coudl peel off easily. The "Vinyl" set is vinyl where you peel off the backing and press on the desired location removing air bubbles then peel off the application tape. Remember to clean the surface of any oily stuff or grime first. Alcohol based solvents are good. I tend to use meths but watch you dont over do it on the paintwork as it could start to eat away at the laquer/paint if your not careful. The windows will be fine though..

It's a little out of my league at the moment. But your local signs and graphics place should be able to make somethign up for you. They may charge around £100->£200 to produce and apply them to the car.. If you fancy havign a go yourself there's often full decal sets available on eBay that may be worth a look..

[Another post coming soon regarding rally style tribute stickers...]

Right ok.. Here's the plan..

Stickers should look like this (Ignore the grey background that's just there to show the white colour)

stickers_template1.png

Size: 305mm x 55mm (Approx)

Other sizes could be available on special request

These are designed to be applied on the outside of the car either on the glass or bodywork. Internal glass ones could be made up but applying can be tricky. (see below)

I'm thinking £10 for a pair p&p covered in the cost, 1st class mail. That's one for each side of the vehicle (Unless anyone just wants one.. ;)) with £6 being donated to the nominated charity "The Jerviswood Trust". Details of the charity can be found at http://www.colinmcrae.com/ I'll make sure to complete the gift aid declaration when sending off the funds, This should mean the charity will get £7.68 for each pair of stickers ordered! (if I understand correctly)

Payments can be made via Paypal, cheque or cash if local

PM me for ordering

What you'll receive

Before you start make sure it's not raining and have a dry clean surface to apply to, no grease/oily stuff or grit on the surface.

You will receive 4 parts. Two parts for each side, a white section and the blue bits for the flag.

First part you'll have the white section:

stickers_template2.png

Peel the backing off gently and make sure the white vinyl sticks to the masking tape type stuff.

Line up where you want the sticker to go. then press out any air bubbles from the inside out (centre to left..then centre to right) using a squeegee a credit card or possibly the SIDC membership card will do :D

Once firmly stuck down peen back the masking tape to hopefully it's all stuck to the car! if not gently place the masking tape stuff (application tape) back inline and press down any parts which weren’t sticking (This normally wont happen if the surface is cleaned properly before hand.

Next step is to create the flag.

stickers_template3.png

Same as before peel back the backing stuff. But this time try and align the triangles of the flag perfectly with the white square, note there should be about a 1mm white outline, the triangles will fit inside the white box.

Don’t apply pressure onto the blue sections with a squeegee thing until your sure it's in the right place.. You should be able to align the blue triangles several times to get it right as long as you don't press it down on the surface.

Once your happy with the position apply pressure over the flag using the squeegee /card to remove any bubbles and make sure the whole lot is stuck.

Once again peel back the application tape and voila you should have something looking similar to this (without all the extra crap underneath)

photo_v1.jpg

Actually, I'll try and put a video together in the next day or so showing how to apply these things for anyone who isn't used to them it can be a little tricky...

Internal application Note :the reason these are made up for external application is because in putting them on the inside you'd need to put the blue flag section on first then the white and as you can imagine it's not so easy to line up, but if anyone is willing to have a go I can get internal ones made up. Just don’t go blaming me if it doesn't look right :o

nae problem mate,

Depending on what route you take to Aberlour I could maybe meet you somewhere.. Otherwise I'm only a couple miles off the main A96 at Lhanbryde if you fancy a de-tour :)

Although I may not be around Thurs Evening... But I'll just be in Elgin if that suits you..
