alank Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 Alas trail has gone cold now... where'd he go? Anyone know infiltrator2 ?? Feel like a donkey with a carrot dangling in front of me - only dunno yet if its a fake plastic carrot....
diffbuster Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 If you were so inclined you could import a version5 now and register it in january without the need for the sva, v5 has a few advantages over earlier models looks and performance wise and prices will come down to match but then again im biased.

I know nufink about importing myself but dont think I am gonna manage that for 5-6K anyways
drb5 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 And they can be had for that price.....and possibly lower. Just rather hard to find them.
drb5 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scotland-28/62828...wagon-sale.html
alank Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scotland-28/62828...wagon-sale.html Just been looking at that - tempting but its either gotta be an STI or something a bit newer..
alank Posted September 23, 2007 Author Posted September 23, 2007 seen a few on PH over the last few days but all with approx 100K or slight 'issues'... eg "Engine has a slight tick from top en, no idea what it is......Hence the price."
alank Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 What ones that Alan? Link? Have a pile of links in my favourites at home and was planning on putting up a new post looking for some help as and when insurance get in touch and I can actually start the ball rolling.. Still like the look of that white one above but seems poster as gone AWOL. However a couple that have caught my eye modified WRX - bit old tho http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/209727.htm High Milage STI http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/249144.htm Not too sure about kit and why its a "fresh import" http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/248626.htm Anyways - Highways has t-4 days!!
drb5 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Tommy Kaira kit on the last one and that's the only one i'd consider tbh out of those ones. If you got the last one for under 4k, i think that's about right, as the Wagons coming out of Japan at that age are very cheap now.
infiltrator2 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi Alan, haven't gone AWOL, unfortunately been away at a family funeral till today - no internet access. Bad bits - the biggest problem I suspect is that you're after a car pretty quickly. I had intended to get the car ready for sale through the winter, to get it back to A1 condition it needs; 1) New JUN type splitter (might go for the AUS downforce one though) 2) Tyres for MOT (one was badly grooved when the front Bilstein strut collapsed - hence the new KYB/Eibach stuff) 3) Scratch touched up - some tw4t scratched it the first week I owned it, 8 yrs ago, right from the back door drivers side to the rear qtr on the pass side. I touched up wth a stick when it happened with the intent of sorting but I've never got round to it. The photos above are with the scratch so as you can see it isn't that obvious but it still needs sorted. When I get it painted I'd probably get the bonnet done as there's a few (not many) stone chips. I'm still torn as to whether to sell it or fit a 500bhp lump instead - this is where I was at last summer and then it went on the RR and surprised everybody with 326bhp @ 7500 rpm. I do believe this is pretty genuine as there were a number of STi9's and new UK STi's that were producing pretty much the book power (290-310bhp) After this it didn't seem a good idea to rip out such a strong basically standard engine. Pricewise - back at A1 condition I'd be after £5.5k with the 18" OZ's, £5k with the 16" wheels - bear in mind the work above is probably £800'ish plus it's never been on the road since the following new parts were fitted, KYB's/Eibachs £500, new s/s 3" d/p £150, new front grooved drilled discs/pads £100. Realise you've an issue with the service history but that's up to you really - service history isn't something I place a lot of value on, I've seen some 5hit servicing by trained monkeys in my time, hence the reason I service all my cars myself.
alank Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) Sorry to hear that mate - feel a bit silly now. Sorely tempted as it has the lowest mileage by far from all the other cars I have been looking at. Do need a car fairly soon tho but has been a couple of months so far without and depends what kind of timeframe you might have in mind if I could last that bit longer?? One kicker is I have insruance for a scooby at the moment that I dont have and cant cancell as have had a claim against it.... Not that fussed about gold wheels tho wouldn't want 16" so have to think about if they are worth £500 - would depend what tyres were on them aswell - I assume thats why such a difference in price as you dont need new 16" tyres for the MOT? Have to admit I am very tempted though like I say what sort of timeframe and when was the last full service/timebelt etc? Alan Ps - re painting- is it worth considering colour coding the sills aswell as that is one thing I aint keen on. Any other thoughts/ comments / things to add people? Edited September 25, 2007 by alank
jodie typeRA Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 alan (IFF IT WAS ME) i would colour code the skirts&back slats and take the loading thing off the back bumper(might be good for your bike though ). stick a nice set off black wheels on job done . .. now remember thats iff it was me .. he is right on the sevice history. most jap imports dont come any. dont let that put you off them .... and keep in mind YOUR THE 1 WITH THE CASH
alank Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) Another thought on the service side of things - do you have receipts, MOTS etc to at least show some evidence of history and that it has been looked after? Without meaning any offence you could be a monkey yourself (hope you take that in the way it is meant ) Edit - think I missed the point of what I was trying to say here - chucking in a few more smileys to help out :D Edited September 25, 2007 by alank
drb5 Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 If i were you Alan, i'd consider the car. It's DEFO worth a look.
jodie typeRA Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 If i were you Alan, i'd consider the car. It's DEFO worth a look. i would say so to the more i look at it the more i want it
alank Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 It does look lovely but keep asking myself why it is any better than other stuff out there apart from it appearing on SIDC.. oh an the low mileage... oh and it does look lovely in those pics... I am defo considering it tho will depend on timescales of course... ARGH!!
StewartyBoy Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Well ive only one thing to say...IF YOU DONT BUY IT, I WILL. ITS A CRACKER!!
alank Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) loading thing off the back bumper(might be good for your bike though ). stick a nice set off black wheels on job done . Loading thing? Already speaking to someone to see how much painting the skirts would cost tho possibly get done at same time as spliter/scratch etc will see whats what and of course the biggy being "timescales" Not a great lover of black wheels myself and might be able to get a set prodrive wheels of my salvaged car if the insurance give them to me for a decent price which need refurbed so could be any damn colour I want lol Much to think about which is keeping me up at nights (and getting me in trouble at work lol) Dont all tell me to buy it or I'll never be able to haggle Edited September 25, 2007 by alank
jodie typeRA Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Loading thing? yeh man that thing on the back bumper . think its thers to stop you scratching the bumper putting the shopping in lol
alank Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 LOL - My last car had that so never noticed it - possibly usefull for sitting on the back of the car getting changed out of smelly biking gear. Used to always drive in smelly gear till I got a car I cared about and now make everyone else in the carpark endure me getting changed
ScottyDog Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I'm thinking about selling my classic wagon if you are interested. It is a 51 plate, so you won't find a later model and even better than that is has just under 26K on the clock. It has a full service history with the last one done by AWD in Perth only 500 miles ago, belts were done at the previous service to that. Car is standard apart from; Magnex back box Quickshiffter Prodrive gear knob Forge Dumpvalve Crystal headlights & foglights I am looking for a price up near £8,000 for the car as i don't think you will find a later model with as little mileage as mine. Scott
drb5 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Nice car, but i think you'll be very lucky to get 8k for it fella.
alank Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 Thanks but as DRB said it probably wont make 8K. That and I have my heart set on getting an STI if I can otherwise gonna spend a fortune upgrading it all over again... I paid 7K for a MY99 full PPP/PHP wagon a year ago with 28K on the clock to give you an idea. Alan
