Looks nice and clean Al. Would be interesting to see the service history etc.

Can't say i've seen it out n about tho.

Mind you . You know what your luck has been like lately :D

Have dropped him a mail asking about SH.

Will also point out thats a bit expensive for that age and Mileage even if it is an STI (which I am wondering about as it has orange tail lights)

Just make sure you go over the service history as others have said and check when the timing belts have been replaced.

My RB5 currently has 113,000 on the clock and it's always been reliable since new. Over the years, these are the sort of things mine's had done to it:-

New dampers & springs (originals lasted 90k)

Recon of the brakes (needed this done twice as the pistons tend to stick)

New bonnet release cable

New boot release cable

Central locking problem (turned out to be dodgy connector in driver footwell so no big cost)

Oil leak from Oil Pump (this could have been expensive if not caught)

2 new timing belts

Blown exhaust gasket

Other than those extra expenses, it's had new tyres and brakes every 1-2yrs.

It's also been serviced at the Dealers twice a year.

As it happens I am just looking at an RB5 on PH at the moment - Whats the boot like? just wondering if I took my wheels of the MTB I could fit it in but sure I read something about the rear bulkhead being solid - does that mean there is no way to put the back seats down?

<Incidently think this STI has had it anyways>

Starting to face up to facts - Im screwed for getting a new car :( Still no insurance pay out - completely skint as it is - and have not got a scoobies (no pun intended) on what I am looking at when I go to see anything.

Was pretty damn lucky with my wagon before, doubt I will be again ;)

Unfortunately the back seats do not fold down.

clearly gonna have to stick it out for a wagon then - just how to get one better than I had before otherwise never gonna be happy agian.

May post up in general section see if anyone is nearby, at least will do as soon as I see some cash from Highways...

Thats well weird - just found that same one on PistonHeads

Would like something >99 ( something about the body styling I dislike), pref with some decent mod so I dont start spending all my cash on the same things all over again.

Not sure how much I have to spend at mo as still waiting on final offer but hopefully 6-7k for the right car. Problem is trying to get something nicer than what I had otherwise I am just gonna be constantly depressed and I think I am gonna be strugling :(

Yer you'll defo get an STi for that kind of money, but i don't think you'll struggle too hard to find one, as long as you don't mind travelling a bit to get it.

Remember your the man with the money. Not everyone has the cash in hand to buy a car. You can dictate the price more-so. :(

Here's hoping!

Traveling may be a problem tho - that and a complete lack of knowlege about cars, which is why I will be on the scrounge for help in whatever area cars turn up in - time to use the power of the SIDC community spirit :(;)

Dunno myself mate, but worth asking. That was only after a brief look, but i'd expect you to find a few not sold yet on there.

Ah gotcha....and you have a reply. :(

81k isn't too bad, but there's room for moving the asking price....

will keep an eye on that (and a cpl of others) over next few weeks - insurance has till the end of the month to make me an offer!

Hi Alan, I'm considering selling my Sti wagon, but it's a V3 1998 car and I've maintained it myself - wouldn't let a garage near it..

I've owned it 8 yrs now since 10k miles, now done 49k miles, standard except for full decat and K&N, managed 326bhp @ 7,500 rpm last year at the SIDC day. 3rd most powerful out of the 20 cars in attendance, stunned everyone incl me and the chap who owned the RR:)

Engine never been touched other than regular service, only change since RR day is an open neck stainless d/p.

Replaced suspension last year with KYB's and eibachs and it's never been on the road since, took of the road for winter (had a GTB) and now got a car through my work.

Car was imported bt the boss of the RAC in early 98, apparently SVA'd by Prodrive (RAC boss and Dave Richards were good friends) and then sold to an elderly chap near Edinburgh as part of his collection.

Cars in Aberdeenshire, let me know if you're interested and I'll give some thought to selling it.

now thats what im talking about she looks a minter mate wagons look very nice in white ;)

Ohh - that does look rather sweet!! Bit wary about lack of service history tho as could be a problem when come to sell it myself- having said that nice mileage and certainly looks mint in the pics. Any bad bits to speak off? How much are you thinking off?

As for the other wagon over at PH - apparenly it will need new suspension soon so he will factor that into price. I however think it is worth 5.5 tops wihout taking that into account - how much for a set of 1/2 decent shocks and springs all round? Will sit and watch it for a bit me thinks... (tho I would prefer an STI Wagon as an upgrade from my PPP wagon tbh)
