thewelsho Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Dave, John (Welsho's) "Chelsea Tractor" comments are purely founded on ignorance IMHO I'm sure he would see it much differently if he actually had a go in one! The Chelsea Tractor comment was not made in reference to the machines performance, but its body-styling, so not ignorance. Also, I have watched Top Gear and the comparison between the WRX and the Forrester, so I know that there is not much difference to them in standard format. All I said was that making performance mods to off-road vehicles didn't make sense to me, thats all and for reference, how many 4x4s do you see at track days and 1/4 miles etc.? I'm sure there will someone who has done it, but they are the exception, not the rule. I just think a performance car should have performance looks to match, if you know what I mean. And why am I sitting here writing a book when I have a new rocket in teh driveway begging to be played with!? I'm off!!!! Have fun with your 4x4 gents!

clutdav Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Ever heard of a company called overfinch? Oh no..........really..............NO!................ Dave
st3ph3n Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Ever heard of a company called overfinch? Or Project Kahn? SRT? AMG? Brabus? Kleeman? EDO Competition? Keep at it Dave and Gus. Why the hell not.
iainc Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Oh no..........really..............NO!................ Dave I'd say an Overfinch 4x4 (Disco or Rangie) is still quick enough in a straight line (I'll ignore the twisties ) As far as I remember Coverttes are pretty nippy b*ggers (which is the basic engine they use).
iainc Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Or Project Kahn? SRT? AMG? Brabus? Kleeman? EDO Competition?Keep at it Dave and Gus. Why the hell not. Definitely, was in Moscow this summer and everywhere you turned there were AMG G Wagons and Brabus saloons (plus Lambos, Ferraris, Maybachs, etc). Was almost hankering after an AMG G Wagon when I came home again (easily led ). Seen more flash cars there than I've ever seen in my life before.
iainc Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Keep at it Dave and Gus. Why the hell not. TBH I did it wrong a couple of years ago. I was looking for a 4x4 and ended up buying a Disco as a winter car (had got shot of the original Scoob at that point). Looking at it now, I really should have bought a Forester instead (regardless of Turbo or std 2.0 model). Would have been a better buy.

I love my V8 Disco loads of grunt and no issues with the bad weather out my way so I'm really happy with mine. Mind you, I do only put 2000 miles a year on the Disco! ACE is a great peice of kit on that Disco, handles really well for a big 4X4. Russell

I am/was the same though. Put next to no mileage on the motor in a year. If we'd bought a Forester I would probably have used it more often that's all.
Avalyn Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Hello folks .. just registered and saw this .... have you seen Bartops Foz over on Scoobynet or Subaru Forester.org, it's a 2.5XT with a huge amount of mods. Maybe just give you more ideas of what you want to spend heaps of money on I have a MY06 - 330/300 Litchfield Foz STi, had 2 WRX wagons (lightly modded before) and prefer the Foz. The 2.5 has much more thump and it's defo a sleeper. It's a fantastic motor. Looks like I may be selling it on though as we're moving into town (Aberdeen) and I will be able walk to work. Will pick up a wee hot hatch, doesn't seem much point in having the big black monster sitting up the drive 5 days a week. Anyway good luck with your Foz projects, well cool Avalyn.
