ScoobyDougie Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hi all I'm thinking of fitting a Magnex center section de-cat and backbox (6x4 oval). Not looking for it to be too loud but need to hear more of the 'burble'. Would you recommend this set-up. I'm told it'll still pass emissions/MOT with the front cat only....is that right? Cheers.
fiestajohn Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I would recommend you contact Gus the Bus. He can supply top quality exhaust parts at good prices.
RS Grant Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 But if you want your Magnex stuff.... then the couple of bits you listed will sound good but not stupidly loud and should pass the MOT without a problem with just the downpipe CAT section fitted. [H] Cheers, Grant
fraz692002 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 thats the system i have on mine, sounds good, not too loud but still rip when u unleash the beast. Dunno about the MOT, i get mine changed when it goes Fraz
Auldy Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Got magnex downpipe, center section n backbox on my beast, sounds gd, aint as loud as other setups but still makes the heads turn with that flat4 rumble [H]
iainc Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Wasn't too loud on my 94 wagon until I put on the decatted downpipe as well and then it was pretty loud... got a bit droning on longer runs with it after being fully decatted (but I think that would have been true of any exhaust with the wagon).
david_taylor Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I have the magnex center section and the round tail pipe(not a fan of the look of the oval) and I cannot fault it. Sound just nice, not to loud, but makes the differnence. Plus if you buy it from a registered supplier(Hypertech) then you get a lifetime garauntee. Dave
ScoobyDougie Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 Cheers for the feedback. Bought the centre section(without silencer box) and backbox today. Decided not to do the down-pipe as I don't want it too loud, and from the info i've had, the car should still pass emissions. I'm happy...the planet's happy......result! The quality of engineering is very good. Got a good price on it too from Motorsport World in Strathaven/on the net.
ScoobyDougie Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 Meant to ask......would you recommend that I buy a new gasket and oval seal or did you fair ok with the ones that came off your existing systems?
