Mechanical questions.

ok, here's the probs, when driving along in any gear between 2 and 3k revs there is a wailing/whistling sound coming from somewhere either on or off the fun pedal. this has been happening for a few weeks now but yesterday morning was particular loud, any ideas? dunno if this is relevant but i cant hear my dump valve anymore, was never the loudest but gone now[8-)] also got new mid section exhaust (decat and resonator(hope thats wot its called) but when i drive away there is a knocking sound, took it to a garage and they said its hard against the prop shaft bearing [:$]but they couldnt heat the stainless enough to bend it a little, ne1 know a garage or someone who can help?

Not very tech minded mate, but i had same prob with dump valve recently. was getting no noise from it but was getting a wailing sound at 2-3k. turned out the return hose thingy that goes into the top of the d/v was split, so was letting all the pressure out instead of the d/v.(mine is a turbosmart supersonic, btw)

sorry prob no help but worth a look maybes?

I had a similar problem Iain, the wee pipe from the d/valve had snapped off .

Meerkat should be able to sort the problem with your exhaust.

thx guys, defo seems to be DV related, took the small hose of the front of it and got a full turn on the plastic bit the hose connects to, how it managed to come loose i dont know [8-)] still no woosh from the DV but the wailing/whistling sound seems to have almost gone, just a very small wail/whistle now. think my DV is busted?

If you want somewhere closer Motorsportworld in Strathaven have bending machine as the build S/S exhausts also owner has a nice 22B.

Your dump valve might need a clean thats all my mum and dads bailey BOV needed when it stopped whooshin it worked perfect after that.

Was down at Meercat myself last week for a brief chat about the options for my exhaust - well the car was never going to stay standard for ever []!  They had actually said that to me about 'off the shelf' sections banging against bits underneath being quite common. They just need a bit of tweaking for a better fit. Kilbirnie is a bit far from Airdrie but I am sure they would sort you out without too much bother.
