Spaceman Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Tryin to get ma 205 to knockhill on sunday for speedsunday. Got the trailer for it but nothing to tow it with anyone got any suggestions? can anyone help? One option i have is to be towed up by a mate via a tow rope is this legal? cars lights all work and everything just it isn`t MOT1d at the moment. Anyone know the law for towing? Thanks greig
gus the bus Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 IIRC would need to be on a trailer or towing dolly if not MOT'd or run with trade plates. Gus
irish al Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Am sure the car has to have a current MOT before you are allowed on the track at knochill, well thats the rules anyway, dont know how strict they are. Legally you can only tow a car using an a frame or rope to move it out of danger if broken down. To transport it you need a braked trailer or braked tow dolly. Al
st3ph3n Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Towing with ropes is completely illegal now I think. Rigid bars only.
oobster Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I'm bored, so did a bit of hunting about on the tinternet. Avon & Somerset police website says: "If the vehicle is not Taxed and the MOT is out of date then the vehiclecan only be towed to a pre-booked MOT at an official MOT testingstation." So, no - if the car being towed isn't MOT'd then you can't tow it to Knockhill
Spaceman Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 Thanks guys i think my dad is going to get time off and tow me up so hopefully all good. Cheers Greig P.S any of you guys going to the speed sunday? Im allowed on knockhill without an mot if the car passes scrutineerin which it is gettin the same day provided i get there.
