scouk Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Been up to see them a couple of times just for small parts and some touchup paint. One time asked them about getting my alarm pin code reset (as I didn't know it) and they said they've never heard of being able to reset the codes!?! Confused by this went back home and after 20 mins of googling found the answer and reset the pin code myself.. *sigh* Mind you I'm also interested in peoples feedback about aird motors as I was thinking about using them for servicing...
euan_r Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 family has bought several cars off them before but they are no longer a subaru dealership. do servicing etc. but to far away to bother going for that.
scooby-girl Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 I won't be using them again![:@] I've just had my scooby serviced at my local non Subaru garage(cam belt service). Inverness sent the wrong cam belt- apart from that everything went ok, until the malfunction light came on and stayed on. My local garage checked and double checked everything that they'd done with Inverness Subaru and Aird motors ,everything was correct! They both said it's probably just coincidence that it's gone at the same time! Inverness have serviced my scoob once before and never again! [:@]They didn't even check the brakes for a 30,000 service and a couple of small parts were missing on my scoob when I got her back! So I thought I would try Aird Motors! I had my scooby sent by recovery to them last Friday. They told me they might beable to put it on the computer that day, so I went through will my scoob, after working a nightshift(no sleep). They were too busy, so I came away, but they did say they might beable to look at it later that day if not Sat, but defiantly Mon. I phoned them on Mon for an update- they'd had a look but didn't know what it was and they would phone me when they knew. Tues my dad phoned them as he was going through to Inverness, he asked the manager if my scoob was ready or if he could give us any clue as to when it would be, manager's reponse "it'll be ready when it's ready". Tues afternoon the mechanic phoned me saying that the timing belt tenisoner needed replacing and that he had a list of possible faults for the malfunction light problem. So I will be getting charged for them to look at what my local garage have done and for a new timing belt thingy, which my local garage have said I don't need, the old one was fine! Today I haven't heard a thing![:@] I'm thinking now of phoning Inverness[:@] to see if they will take it, and phoning the Subaru customer care! Jen
glen_cadwallader Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Not so good to hear, I bought my P1 from Bill in Inverness about 4 years ago. I had it serviced there once, the bill was horrendous LOL, I do like the guys in there, but have to say they dont have a clue when it comes to management lights etc. You may be better using Glenburgie Subaru, Ive not used them, and they arent main dealers but they are well enough known to qualify as acceptable round these parts for servicing.
sandyRS16i Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 where in Inverness are you going as there is no longer a Subaru dealer in the area, fromerly it used to be Dicksons in the Carsegate. They will still do Subaru work and i have never had any problems with them, they put in a new sort motor in mine when i was in a total jam in about 1 wk and all within the budget discussed. I have my car getting MOT'd on sat in there, they dont open til 9am, but have made an effort to squeeze me in at 8.30, i really cant fault the level of customer and the workmanship in there. Whn it comes to ordering parts as i have a JDM STI, most dealers act like arses arguing about chassis and part numbers, but i call up and they just order it and get me the correct thing. As for Aird motors, when they were a subaru dealer it was always legacy's and forresters they delt with as they were really aimed for the farmers of the area
iainc Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 If you can make it as far as Forres take it to Reekies/John Gray and Sons. They are an ex Subaru dealership and I was always fully satisfied with anything they did with my first scoob. They fitted aftermarket parts for me and really knew their stuff. Even started using them for the other car we had at the time as well.
scooby222 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 when they were an actual dealer they did a good job but now i wont go near them, and theyre 2 minutes from my house! put it into them as i thought there was a problem with the exhaust so wanted it checked out under warranty. went back and the first thing the mechanic said was, what do you expect if you change the exhaust, thats not the standard exhaust theres no cats in it. i then explained to him that there was a sport cat in the downpipe and the middle cats deleted as its ppp'd and he said oh havent seen that on a newage!!!! i would definitely think twice about paying the bill if youve any warranty on the car and definitely complain to subaru. as to where else to go,were a bit short up here-never used dicksons but they seemed knowledgeable and i know people whove had great service from them on scoobs. good luck with getting it sorted anyway, hope its nothiong serious!
scooby-girl Posted June 29, 2007 Author Posted June 29, 2007 Thanks for the info![Y] I decided yesterday(Thurs) enough was enough! I phoned Dickson's Inverness they were more than happy to take at look at my scoob and even though they were very busy, they could fit her in on Friday[] So then I phoned Aird Motors for an update - they had fitted a new air control valve and then later that afternoon were going to have a look at the possible faults from the computer! I told them not to bother as I was coming over to pick my scoob up and was going to take it to a garage where they are willing to work on the fault! 2.5hrs later I arrive at Aird Motors to be told the fault has now been fixed and if I leave my scoob with them until today(Fri) they can fit the new part, but they couldn't guarantee that the part would arrive for Fri - a new air control valve, costing £300! - They'd taken one from one of their 2nd hand foresters, tried it in mine and malfunction light went off! As I couldn't go back over today and the thought of leaving her again at that garage, I drove her back yesterday. Tomorrow (Sat) straight from work at 6am I'm going over to finally get here fixed! only 8days after taking here there![:@] The final bill for all this is £661.98[:@] It's not under warranty! My local garage are only going to charge me for the cam belt no labour etc! and it's not even there fault! In future I most definitely won't be using Aird Motors ![:@] Any future servicing will be carried out by my local excellent garage![] And I will be having a rant a Subaru customer care! Jen
abbott Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Mines is going into bitz motorsport in nairn in 2 weeks for a full service , cant fault them got my car back from there today ater them sorting out my boosting problems and the fact that they have 3 subaru rally cars sitting there to swipe parts off to check is a 101% winner !! i dont know if this is allowed but there worth taking a look at www.bitzmotorsport.com
scooby-girl Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 The latest: Took my scoob over on Sat to Aird Motors for the new air control valve to be fitted. I was sat waiting for them to open when the mechanic turns up - his wife driving him in. He comes over to me as says " I was out on the p*** last night so I won't be test driving any vehicles today". I was thinking I've come all this way for a hungover mechanic to work on my scoob![] So I watched him change the part and then came home. Phoned Subaru customer care who told me that the manager of Aird Motors will phone me to discuss this. He has since phoned me and is siding with his mechanic although he doesn't agree with him being hungover. I have since phoned two Subaru dealers who have both said that they would have just put my scoob on the computer and found the fault! They wouldn't have checked the cam belt etc again like Aird Motors and the fault would have been fixed within two days, not a week like Aird Motors! Phoned Subaru customer care again and their response was " what do you want me to do about it"[:@] Jen Who's p***** ***
scooby222 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 thats shocking! both from aird motors and subaru,i dont know how theyre still an authorised agent, theyre hopeless [:@] at least youve got it fixed and hopefully you wint need a mechanic near it any time soon
zeolite Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I have to say that my experiences with Aird have been very good. I have bought 2 cars from them and if I lived nearer Beauly I would go there. I appreciate that Scooby-girl is aggreived about what she sees as poor service but I will always go back to where my experiences have been good. there is not a business out there without an irate customer or two.
