With a high pressure fuel pump, fuel pressure stabiliser and an ECU which can control injectors independently you should be all the way. What major benefit do upgraded fuel rails give over the above? I'd be interested since I guess I could get them for my classic, although it'd probably need a remap after fitting, so wouldn't be cheap. Someone did mention to me to try a swirl pot but haven't had time to investigate.

Got an HKS type 0. It's set to automatic rather than a set time, usually runs for anywhere between 3 and 5 minutes (five minutes would be after a thrash into aberdeen down the dual carriageway, full 1.5 sustained boost off the roundabouts). Tootling about town and it sits for roughly 2 minutes.

You can find them on ebay all the time. I bought a pair for 20 quid, but the colour match was off (wrong red) so didn't fit them to my car. Unfortunately I cut the electrical connection wires off (RA doesn't have electric anything) before I realised the match was off, so they wouldn't fold electrically now. Otherwise I would have sold them to you for 20 quid. Sorry. Suggest ebay or japanparts is your best bet.

You're lucky it's just on startup. Mine smells like a shell station on idle all the time Cheap high when you're in a queue. I would suspect that the performance pack has something to do with it, since as other posters have mentioned the fuel rate will be higher, so on idle more fuel gets thrown out the back since it will run rich. The more you mod the worse it smells.

Ah right! I understand the diagram on the instructions now. From my "O" grade technical drawing exam knowledge I had sussed that there was a channel, but thought I might be missing a part (i.e. a tube) or that it was part of the original pedal. Wasn't clear from piccy that it is a hollow bolt. If I could only read Japanese...... Cheers! Fitting tonight!!!!
-
Here's mine from 1500-8000rpm Sti6 block, ported/polished heads, equal length headers, decat.
-
Well started this last night - removed my old pedals (Razo racing pedals) which were actually only held on with bolts and brackets round the back of pedals so they came off quite easily with an allen key, as did the metal footrest which had been screwed through onto the subaru plate. Footrest fitted with two bolts, clutch and brake were fiddly to get nuts onto bolts but took ten minutes each, then done. Looks superb. Then it got dark so didn't venture into "remove the accelerator" territory as I wanted to drive the car today Coulster- Did you have to remove the original bolts from behind the accelerator. I didn't have time to get a mirror and see whats going on behind that pedal!!!

Wow seems you can even mod a Porsche GT

Aye porsches are nice, but straight pipe scoobies are the way forward, all the way to 8000rpm..... -
Ally - use the photobucket link in BB format (has IMG in square brackets) Very clean motor. Nice.
-
Cool, I did think they might. There is a picture in the instructions of a screwdriver going at the pedal with an arrow moving away. I don't speak Japanese but I think the translation would be "use something sharp to get the manky old pedals prised off" lol I've got aftermarket footrest, clutch and accelerator pedals already so I'm hoping they don't throw a spanner in the works. I'm going to fit these later in the week, at which point I'll post more pics of them in place.
-
Well the accelerator pedal has a bar at the back and looks slightly adjustable. The brake and clutch have brackets to go over the tops of the pedals and are bolted in place at the top - they look pretty easy if I can get original pedals off (judging from the diagram, I don't read Japanese!) The footrest comes with a massive steel bracket which must also bolt into place!!!!! Is it easy to remove the standard pedals? Are they bolted on does anyone know?
-
aye funny lads lol I have the Sti fitting set with all bolts etc. Just wondering if they are easy to fit or nae!

I remember the first time I went to Italy. My Italian workmate turned up in a spanking new vectra (days old) with the rear drivers side door caved in. I was like "holy crap min what a state of a motor" and he smiled, went "oh well" and threw his hands up. Nae big deal! It was only after driving through Milan that I realised Italian cars WITHOUT a ding are the exception.
-
Right 3 are accelerator, brake & clutch panel on left is for footplate.
-
Just taken deliver of a set of STi pedals for my motor. Has anyone fitted a set of these? Instructions look fairly straighforward (although they are in Japanese!) but there are bound to be gotchas.

Thought this was too good to be true!!! Then found.... Comments: - Please note this price is for The Talex Lite model, we also sell the full Talex for 99.99 Still 99.99 includes 12 months subs (35 quid for talex lite) so still a saving of a fiver
-
Tesco are selling talex lite one for 70 quid. GPS only no radar. Think it can be updated via subscription.

" Whats the best way to run in a new engine "
iain_ogston replied to AVI_8's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I ran in an Sti v6 short motor recently. Got the car back filled with crappy mineral oil as Wuz says. First trip (200 miles) burnt a bit of oil and required a topup - after that rings sealed and no more oil was used. Spent the first 1000 miles tootling about under 3000rpm and off boost. Drove a lot on back roads (no dual/motorway work) so engine revs were constantly changing and also went over the lecht twice to work the engine. Car went back for a flush and a refill with proper motorsport synthetic oil. Then spent 500 miles going to about 5000rpm using reduced boost checking everything was ok. As it turned out one of my new injector o-rings was leaky and petrol reached the oil under boost. Back the car went for another flush and refill. So it was 1500 miles before I could use loads of boost or high revs. Now enjoying 8000rpm and 1.5 bar -
