I remember when I was totally new to Scooby ownership. I phoned up AWD and spoke with Grant and Andy. I then went up to see them and they both spent a fair bit of time with me explaining all the options available for upgrading my car's performance. They explained the costs, and worked out a plan so that I could upgrade things in stages. They couldn't have been more helpful, and their expertise showed when I got my car back from them - a very different beast which could (and did) embarrass many a so-called supercar. I can only imagine that a busy open day wasn't the best day to expect to spend some time with the guys. I'm sure you'd have found things very different if you'd just popped in through the week, or phoned and arranged to visit them to discuss what you wanted to do to your car. There's no way Grant or Andy would knowingly ignore a potential customer, after all AWD is their livelihood. I would give them a call and go up when they can spend some decent time with you. I have to agree with superstar tradesman regarding SIDC, his first central meet was mine also and everyone was very friendly. Like I say, an open day probably isn't the best time to be making sweeping judgements about the Scooby scene. Go to AWD yourself or pop along to a regional SIDC meet and you'll soon find out we're a very friendly bunch. Unless you turn up in an EVO

I know there is a gang operating out of Cumbernauld, who regularly head through to Dunblane, Bridge of Allan, Stirling. They do the old 'through-the letterbox' hook technique or, if you leave your house door unlocked they will just walk in, locate your keys and they're off in your motor. They are very organised and they have been arrested and put before the courts in Stirling. Sadly, for some reason, the sheriff decided to bail these scumbags, so they could carry on their car theft business. Do you think they're going to turn up at court for their trial? No, neither do I. The police (or at least me anyway! ) do take an interest in nicking these scum and please believe me, if a call ever came through to us in Stirling that a stolen car was being driven in our area then everyone and their granny would be gunning it from wherever they are to catch the car. Okay I may have to drive a Skoda at work but I still drive it like my scoob! Sadly, most of my day, like many other cops, is spent dealing with absolute crap which shouldn't even be getting reported to us. For example, yesterday I had to waste 30 minutes with a woman who was upset because her son fell out with another lad. She had gone to see the lad's father who said he would ground his son. The woman's complaint to me was that the father had allowed his son out to play when he promised to ground him. A police matter? mmmmm Nearly all the crap calls are from the same morons we end up locking up. It seems we (the police) spend 90% of our time running around on behalf of the 10% of anti-social non-taxpaying scumbags of society. All this time the scumbag car thieves are casing fellow performance car drivers' houses Sorry, rant over I don't think I'll ever be allowed to be an AFO anytime soon!

Some nice designs there. I've ordered myself one of the Knockhill shirts. Now if only someone could make some Knockhill circuit stickers, like the Nurburgring ones on the Spec C's, for all us Scottish Scoobies.... [] In fact, just cancel that. Someone already is over on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Knockhill-Map-of-the...1QQcmdZViewItem

Yep, that was my daughter Halz and myself in the wagon. First time up since I did all the mods and found it quite hard to get a decent take-off - The turbo is so laggy compared to standard and when it does come online it spools up soooo fast, so you either risk bogging down or spinning. Put it down to "operator error"! [:$] Managed a few runs in the 12's with the best being 12.674. I think I can shave a wee bit more off once I get my starts sorted but I'm still happy. Shame about the weather early on, it obviously put a lot of people off going, but it did mean I managed to get 31 runs! [] so at least I got my money's worth.

I think it is £7 per person to get in, and £15 to take your car on. You just pay your £7 at the booth when you go in, and if you want to take your car on the 1/4 mile you just go to the cabin next to the start line and pay your £15 and fill in a simple form with your name/type of car. I last went up on the Banzai magazine day and, to be honest, there ain't a lot for kids or wives/girlfriends to do if they aren't into spending ages queuing up to have a run down the 1/4 mile, watching cars go up the 1/4 mile, or looking at the other cars on show. By 1.30pm the place will be heaving, so expect to have at least a 45min wait for the 1/4 mile. A good day out for a petrolhead but if your missus/kids don't share your enthusiasm they might get a bit bored.

Fraser, are you still up for Crail this weekend? Kenny -
Could be fun, if only to remind yourself how good the Scoob is![] My mate just spent £97k on a 997 Turbo with 4000 miles on the clock. My own classic wagon is only putting out 337bhp/309lb and I was neck and neck with his Porsche on the straights at Knockhill. Forget the Porsche, just get an Andy Forrest remap - Much cheaper and just as quick []
-
Alan, can you give us as much of a description of this white classic as you can? I'm sure everyone would want to keep their eyes peeled for these scum. Think we'll need to invest in the kind of anti-jacking set-ups that the South Africans use - Flamethrower sidepipes anyone?
-
Yep, Tarox do them. I also know someone who is selling another set.....[]
-
Aye, maybe I better add a 4-point harness into the budget! []

I need some advice. Everyone I have asked so far has told me something different. I am buying a set of 10-pot Tarox brake calipers with 328mm discs. I am going to be fitting them to a MY00 Turbo Wagon 2000 (UK spec). The car is running on the standard 16" alloys at the moment so I will have to get a new set of 17" wheels & tyres. The chap I'm buying the brakes off had 17" wheels on his car but he can't remember what offset the wheels had. So far I have been told that if I get a set of STi7 wheels I'll be okay, any set that fit over Brembos will be okay, 45mm offset is okay, 48mm offset is okay - So now I'm confused. When I'm scanning the web looking for a nice set of alloys can anyone tell me exactly what I need to get? The last thing I want is to get the new brakes fitted and my new wheels don't go over them! Is it as simple as just going for the right offset and, if it is, what offset do I need? Or can anyone recommend a decent (i.e. look good but at a good price) 17" alloy which covers the Brembos? Thanks!
-
I'm getting the 10pots at a ridiculously good price (about the same as a set of s/h Brembos). Now if they don't make a difference I don't know what will!
-
Ha Ha! yes it was me in the silver Wagon. Just got it back from AF the day before. It was great on the straights but absolute rubbish in the corners. Too much body roll and the standard brakes got hot very quickly. I thought I was holding everybody else up in the twisty stuff and was trying to find some way of letting them past, hence the occasional dodgy line [:$]. At one point some Lotus 7's came up my backside in the twisty stuff and I booted it to the nearest suitable straight to let them past, but when I got to the straight they were too far behind! Don't worry though, hopefully next time I'll have invested in some strut braces, 10-pot Tarox's (found someone selling a good set) and some new lowered shocks (hopefully Tein) and nice 18" alloys with new rubber, so the yellow Bruce Taxi's Evo can stick his "Scooby Blitzer" sticker up his tailpipe! [] My car is apparently sitting at @337bhp/309lb at 1.5bar. Power-Good, Handling-Crap = more spending!! I'd modded it purely for Crail, and it showed! It lived up to it's 'Silver Bullet' name though - Fast in a straight line, can't do corners []
-
Was the Porsche a brand new blue one by any chance? My mate was there today in his new 997, so it might have been him. I was planning on going up today to give him a race but didn't bother due to the weather. We were both at Knockhill on Friday evening and he couldn't pull me on the main straight, so I was looking forward to seeing what would happen on the 1/4 mile. Oh well, he'll keep! []
-
No problems so far and it hasn't been remapped (yet!) The car has had a fair few other bits added at the same time - Hybrid FMIC, HKS plugs, new plug leads, full 3" decat system, 20G turbo, Walbro pump, FSE fuel regulator, Turbosmart supersonic dump valve and Apexi AVC-R. It's being remapped by AF on Thursday so everything should run together properly - Also having 550cc injectors fitted then so I'm looking forward to seeing a big difference. The APS kit I got was through ebay for £65. It came with a K&N filter fitted. According to Andy from AWD it looks like it was meant for a ver3/4, but it went on mine easy enough.
-
Probably something like an APS or Hyperflow cold air induction kit. I've got an APS on my 2000 UK Turbo, as I was advised to get one by Andy Forrest. I don't think he'd advise anyone to buy something that isn't rather good [] In the pic the APS kit is the black pipe which disappears into the offside inner wing. It means you only get cold air rather than the hot air within the engine bay, hence the name 'cold air kit'.
-
Thanks to Melly-Doo for a good race on Sunday. You only pipped me by less than 1/10 sec in my standard MY00 classic wagon, which I'll put down to your diff problems [] I'll give you a better race in June once Andy and the boys at AWD have bolted on all this stuff I've been buying. Been speaking to Mr.F and he reckons he should have it somewhere between 330-350bhp by the time he's done. I'll hopefully have it all finished for 10th June, when it shouldn't be as busy and hopefully I won't have to pick on the Honda drivers anymore! []

My mate's a saleman in a local Ford dealership and he was all excited when he brought round a disgusting orange ST to show me. He insisted on taking me from Dunblane to Falkirk on the motoroway to show me how 'fast' this thing was. As he floored it, he turned to me and said "Well...Is it as fast as your car?". I think he was a bit hurt when I pissed myself laughing [] He refused to believe that my MY2000 Turbo was faster ("It can't be! My Ford has a bigger engine and more bhp!!) until a few days later when I gave him a lift, and had him sh*tting himself.
