  1. I was up spectating for about 4 hours this afternoon, great entertainment! Your mates type r was going very well, felt a bit sorry for the blobeye owner who lost it on the last session and took some serious damage to his nearside front wheel. Great weather for a change, sorry didn't get any photos but maybe colin will be putting some up later.

    craig.

  2. What would be the weight saving replacing all four door windows and the rear screen? Does anyone know?

A saving is a saving when weight reduction's the name of the game, but polycarbonate 'windows' and fibreglass doors make a major weight saving.

Will also make your wallet a lot lighter too! :D

  3. DVLA will not entertain photocopies Mike, probably the best you can hope for is asking the 'seller' to keep badgering DVLA, to try and speed the process up.

Patience is a virtue, Mike, but you probably don't have the time.

Hope it sorts itself sooner rather than later, and i bet the machine polisher is primed and ready for some action.

    Craig.

  4. The p1 was a good car until big end failure put me off scoobs for life. I'v never known any other make of car to suffer catastrophic engine failure as a design problem . So many cars. Most cars engines eventually wear with a bit of smoke.slight rattles but not the Subaru! ;)

great power though but wanted comfort now i'm a bit older.

Also think the bmw 2 door with the msprt kit is nicer looking than the scoob too ;)

Jimmy, if my first experience of subaru was an expensive purchase followed by a catastrophic engine failure then i'd be feeling exactly the same as you. But i've had four of these cars and maybe it's down to luck, but i've only ever been let down once, due to a radiator hose bursting which you would admit can happen to any oldish vehicle. It's one of the reasons why i think there fairly easy to work on/fix if things need fixed.Parts are plentifull as opposed to EVO'S

and probably cheaper part for part than BMW. Just my tuppence worth. ;)

  5. P1's are notorious for engine failure but sling in a reliable rebuilt engine and you have a near perfect combination of style and performance. Subaru ownership is a funny old buisness, doesn't always make much sense, crap build quality, crap fuel econemy....BUT the SOUND of a tuned flat four boxer engine, sweet!

Now you can talk about a 2 door bmw e46 with all the bells and whistles......leather blah de blah , reversing parking aids ,But it it will never have that soundtrack. Nicer looking? It's all a matter of taste/age but seriously,

    a bog standard e46 bmw ,even a 2 door coupe, against a P1/TYPE R ......SORRY NO CONTEST!

    craig.

  6. It was an R, not a P1, just loads of grinding from the back end - not sure what it was.

To be honest the wife has claimed the BMW so rep mobile or not she likes it. If you seen it in the flesh though you would agree it's not quite your standard 4 door 3 series.

    Cheers

    Gary

Gary, It was jimmygforce i was asking 'what was wrong with the P1?'

The automatic gearbox would have put me off but as your good lady seems happy with

that then all fine and dandy. Have AC Schnitzer stopped/gone out of buisness recently?
