  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I finally had time to look at it for myself and found that the unit was fine but the wire was broken somewhere in the boot lid Fixed now and very pleased I don't have to find a new unit
  2. Evenin folks. It's that time of year again and the MOT tester tells me I need a new high level spoiler brake light for my '03 WRX. Any suggestions where I could find one sharpish? Cheers!
  3. Really good answer - thanks! Does this qualify as the most absurdly named part of my scoob? I'd hate to think that a waffle ignition circuit or infinity drive was lurking in there unnoticed
  4. Hi all, its been a while. My 03' WRX now has 140k on it, still no mods Its been no trouble except for a mysterious battery drain (tracked down to a loose connection on the ECU) and now this. The engine warning light came on yesterday - its gone today, when checked the OBD2 fault code was P1097 "Tumble generator valve circuit #2 (over current)". What is a tumble generator? Is this anything to worry about? Cheers for your help
  5. Jon, My 03' WRX has done 60,000 and I'm looking for an extended warranty - what would you need to put a quote together?
  6. As my 03WRX is now approaching the ripe mileage of 56k I have a couple of questions..... Is it worth maintaining a Subaru Service history? What about extended warranties? Is there anything I should get double checked while still under warranty? Any thoughts appreciated.
  7. It seems like I'm always talking about this site! Found this today - UK SpeedTrap Guide Any thoughts?
  8. Have a look at UK Speed trap Guide. Also - Radar / Laser Jammers to be banned!
  9. My WRX was first registered in April 03' - Today I had to book my 50,000 mile service. That's about 2,778 a month... PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT ALONE! Are there any higher mileage 03's out there?
  10. I moved to 4 x T1-R's from 4 x Eagle F1 GSD3's. Had all four corners done at Protyre Fareham for £477.89 (225/45 R17 on 03 WRX) Personally I didn't get on with the Eagle F1's - I think the T1-R's tramline less, are quieter and have much better wet cornering/braking. The Eagle F1's may have been a just little better at dry cornering, but when I've got through these I plan to put more T1-R's on. Never tried the T1-S.
  11. Some good sites at: www.safespeed.org UK Speedtrap Guide The Association of British Drivers Sooner or later everyone will be banned - then who will pay to keep the country running?!
  12. Found this on the BBC News Website: A futuristic gadget which disables suspect vehicles with radio waves could soon be used by police in car chases. It's their latest weapon in safely ending pursuits. Doesn't say if it microwaves the driver too? Maybe if they just set it to defrost!
  13. There's a group test in this month's PcPro, they rate the iRiver players, not tried one myself.
  14. All services at main dealers, the 20k was SGT and the 30k was Gatwick.
  15. Before I bought My first Scoob I did did a lot of worrying about how much the total cost of running it would be, then I bought one anyway. Just for information, this is what it has cost, 13 months and 31 thousand miles later. Never added it up before, it looks like a lot, but I love the car and would have another. £599 Tracker Installation £325 Tracker Lifetime Subscription £750 First Year's Insurance (12k pa Estimated Milage) £41 1k Service £173 10k Service £375 4 x Eagle F1's (replaced at 18k) £242 20k Service £1050 Second Years Insurance (20k pa Estimated Milage) £69 1 Year Bodywork Service £543 30k Service 27mpg (City, A roads & Mway) + GPS Speed Trap Detector! I hope this is of use to someone.
  16. Check out UK Speedtraps and shop around, I got my B2 from Networx Automotive, not the cheapest, but they do offer an upgrade scheme. If your biggest problem is fixed camera's, then a GPS detector is the way to go.
  17. The door plate on my MY03 WRX Saloon (215/45 17R as standard) shows a loaded pressure of 2.3 (kg/Cm2) front and 2.2 (Kg/Cm2) Rear. If 1 Kg/Cm2 = 14.22 Lb/In2 Front = 32 Lb/in2 Rear = 31.2 Lb/In2 The plate shows loaded and caravan, no unloaded pressures. Sound about right?
  18. Gents, Thanks for your help, got the following Prices (fitted) for 215/45 R17 F1's: blackcircles.com £112.87 Barmer Tyres (Chandlers Ford) £101 Micheldever Tyres (Winchester) £93.74 Bracknell Tyre & Battery Co. (01344 411323) £86.95 As I needed them in a hurry and Bracknell was a bit of a trek, went to Micheldever this afternoon. The tracking check confirmed that the tracking wasn't out - must be the enthusiastic use of roundabouts (I blame Basingstoke!). Micheldever have a huge operation, so be prepaired to que. As for servicing - I need that dealer stamp, so have booked with SGT at Taplow. Thanks for your help & see you around.
  19. Happy New Year! I have just moved to Hampshire (Fareham), and find myself in need of some tyres and a 20k service. Could anyone reccomend a tyre place in Hampshire, I'm looking for some F1's? Has anyone had any recent dealings with the Garage at Botley? (See Thread) Judging by the tyre wear the tracking could also do with adjusting - do I need a garage with a 4 wheel tracking rig? Simon MY03 WRX - No PPP, No 18" Alloys, No hope....
  20. I haven't seen the signs myself, but the Thames Valley Police website says the signs are not being used for SPECS (Yet?). Wouldn't they need warning signs to be legal?
  21. Have just bought an Origin B2 - GPS & Laser detection, Its OK so far, but there are no database entries for mobile speedtrap locations, it relies on the laser detector. I can also reccommend www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk, best site I have seen. Do you believe this? Stealth wax!!!
