after ringing no fewer than 3 tuners across, i am now confused as hell ! each suggests a different method of further mods and some say put a de cat downpipe on now it will help and others say as soon as i get it on and blast it, the boost limit will come in and go nuts. I don't know what to do now. Plus there mentioning the dreaded "engine check" light being on all the time when i get the de-cat put on. Think i may have to meet with Dave of here as his car is closest to mine and his still seems to be running with mods. DaveK - help ! need advice my mobiles 498753 if you can spare the time for a quick chat on these bloody type R's !!

Very stupid question, but i need my car remapping to accomadate a few mod's i've done. Have been advised it's the next tuning step for the car. So my question is, is there anyone on the island that can remap ecu's ? to save me having to go to leicester

http://www.rcdevelopments.com is a good place ! they did a lot of work for me in the past. I would go with a de-cat aswell and after this look at a boost controller (i suggest apexi AVC-R) unless you are thinking of a new sparkly Apexi Power FC !

To be honest the arguments for a UK machine for me do not out weight the advantages of the japanese cars, so i have now had 2 impreza's both imports. I personally imported my first impreza myself and can run you through what needs doing to the car etc.. When i imported my car from japan it went simply by the following process 1. Buy car in japan 2. Pay freigh insurance and shipping costs 3. Pay the duty due on the car when it arrives in the UK 4. Pay to get it shipped to the Island 5. Carry out all modifications needed for the Manx test (fuel neck, rear fog light, etc..) 6. Do the dreaded manx test 7. register and tax 8. of you go ! I never needed to have the car SVA tested when i imported mine in 2001, i trust this is still the same today. Does are new found subaru dealer stock any after market parts ? i am after some clear indicators for my car and it just seems a pain having to order them of the net if i can just go get them tomorrow up ramsey. Any idea's anyone ?

Alright cret ! I was looking at the HKS racing suction kit, but have been told my MAF will not last anything more than a week with it on if at all ! so just wondering wether it is old wives tales or should i actually just be looking for a decent panel filter ? well i got some big'ish plans for the car ! but most of which will have to wait till the end of november/start of december ! mmmmm, bonus time !!! I know everyone will hate me for this, but i am tempted to get a wide arch kit for it and get it in the bodyshop !! what do you guys recon ? Plus the type R is more than sluggish at the moment, so need to sort something out there, but that will come with time !!! Decided to keep the impreza because i honestly cannot think of a better car for the island ! there are cars faster than the impreza, but on the isle of man roads, i would not be too sure. Did think about a TVR tuscan till my boss brought his in and i was more or less capable of dismantling it infront of his eyes with my bare hands ! shocking build quality ! you can actually grab the rear window and pull it out and put your hand in the cockpit ! this could be a reason you never see a TVR out in the wet !! there not bloody waterproof !

Dave, am i right in thinking mine and your car have different MAF sensors ? as i noticed you had an induction kit on your car on saturday and everyone under the sun on scoobynet is warning me about putting one on mine because of the MAF getting damaged ? you had any problems ?

good ! the less i get confused by exhausts the better ! i often hear an almighty roar coming around a corner and i can't see the car, i close my eyes in anticipation, expecting, surely a lamborghini diablo ! or an astin martin at worst......... But oh no, what's this! you guessed it, it's a lovely 1.6 8v saxo ! utter disapointment !!!!

Has there recently been a revision in the law over car noise levels or are the police just clamping down on this sort of thing now ? Have heard a few of the kiddies around have been fine for the noise from there exhausts. As a precaution and because i have the dreaded manx car test on the 8th (which, of course it will fail as all cars do !) i have now put the bung into my lovley new Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust ! :-<
