Thanks very much. The two of us are quite happy with the car. Even more so with the go-faster goodies on her. Aye only if you are stupid like me and buy the XTEN version.........is rather nice with the leather and double electric sunroof...... Dave
-
I wouldn't exactly call a Forester a "Chelsea Tractor". I have blown loads of money on the STi9 so it is the foz's turn now. People don't buy foresters to pose in they buy them because they are bullet proof, have decent offroad ability, possess good performance & handle quite well for the most part. Driven well this 2.5XTEN could keep a WRX honest on a backroad. Total sleeper.............. Dave

Gus, I take it if you fit the coilover suspension you lose the self leveling facility? That is rather cheap even delivered from NZ. I wonder how much the import duty/tax will be though?? Dave PS: Thanks for the info mate.
-
The link in the PM doesn't work mate. Do you have any other info? Thanks Dave
-
Well I think it makes sense in the long run. The turbo, etc are just sitting there and I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle of trying to sell them on. Ta mate Yes bud the front lip is the genuine Subaru part that is in the options list - it does make the front end a lot more aggressive. It looked rather mean in the rear view mirror when the Mrs was following me the other day. Dave PS: thanks for the positive comments so far

Ah ok that is something I was unaware of. Thanks for that mate. Do you have any info on this D2 coilover kit you mention, that you would be willing to share?? Dave
-
Thanks for that....................... . What a plonker Dave

Well just like Gus I have started to play with the Mrs' Forester 2.5 XTEN. It was only a matter of time before it was modified in some way. Anyway this is how she arrived........... First mods................. 1. Front Lip Spoiler, 2. Black STi Grill, 3. Rear High Level Spoiler, I think that these really start to make the Forester look quite mean. I have a VF35 turbo and uppipe sitting in the garage waiting for her (she'll get done when i sort out the issues with my STi9 setup). A set of tints, mudflaps, 18's, lowering springs & an exhaust system should find their way onto her in the coming months. I just can't help myself. Should be one hell of a sleeper when the performance parts are on................ What do you guys think then?? Dave
-
Aye but that was not playing with the map for power and delivery. It was diagnosing the turbo compressor surge on the VF35. I'll send the mapper a text and ask the question about the air flow readings and see what he says. I'll scan all the graphs in this morning hopefully so you guys can see them. Dave
-
The car is down all over the rev range and not just with the peak figures I'll scan in the graphs later on tonight and post tham up for you guys to see. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the map at all, but it hasn't been fine tuned due to us trying to fault find for so long................ Dave Dave

Russ, I did but was told no way was the car going on the rollers for one run without a filter on. They were not going to take the risk of something happening even if I was comfortable with it for one run. Dave PS: What do you think I should do???????
-
Sounds like you have a monster on your hands there. Good effort Dave

The exhaust system has not changed between the two stages of tune apart from decatting the downpipe and installing an uppipe. FOr that reason I find it difficult to see why the exhaust woulld now be restrictive when it quite happily performed at 332bhp before. With regards to the inlet pipe, the K&N typhoon CAI has a set of 60mm hard pipes that relocate the filter into the front nearside wing. Now the mapper has suggesteed that it would be a good idea to either get a bigger filter or revert the induction back to standard with a high flow filter element as it works better with the MAF. But again nothing has changed on this side between the two stages and I struggle to see what is now causing the restriction???? I am slowly running out of hair to pull out.............. Dave
-
Yeah mate i totally agree with you. The turbo appears to be working absolutely fine. It must be something else. Anyway i thought you were on holiday? Dave
-
In terms of the boost that is what we have programmed the Ecu to take as the target values. And the car is doing exactly what we have told it to do apart from make proper power. The turbo was a AF exchange 20G not brand new. Dave
-
I have been thinking about the induction kit but it was good enough to flow at 330bhp with the standard VF35 turbo as was the exhaust system with a prodrive cat downpipe. That should have been more restrictive than the new decat downpipe. This is just really flippin strange and annoying. Please keep the ideas coming.................thanks everyone. Dave

Come on guys over 55 views and only one reply. Please I need some fresh ideas......... Dave
-
The car has no problem with it's boost control as stated in the first post. It does however make 1bar by around 3k revs and max 1.6bar at 4-4.5k revs then tailing off to 1.4bar across the remaining rev range. The turbo is making boost and holding it - but the car doesn't make realistic power for the modifications made. There is some sort of restriction................somewhere. And I have no clue where................ Dave
-
Howdy Everyone, I am at my wits-end with my car at the moment. I have invested in some stage 2 performance mods and the car won't make any proper power. I have waited until this morning to calm down as if i had come on the forum last night I would have been posting a for sale message. Just to set the stage the car already has: - K&N Typhoon CAI Prodrive Downpipe 2.5" Exhaust System Decat Centre Section Walbro Fuel Pump Remap to produce 332bhp & 320lb.ft on the standard VF35 turbo I was quite happy at this performance level but had a hankering for more. So I invested in a AF TD05/6 20G turbo, decat downpipe, uppipe, ported & polished headers, breathers vented to atmosphere & remap. And I trust the people I have had work on the car both in terms of mechanical and mapping. There have been a number of small issues that stopped the car from being mapped correctly but they have been sorted and I had high hopes for the mapping session yesterday. Nope the car is DOWN on the previous tune level. It is ONLY making 320bhp & 315lb.ft. The mapping is all fine as there is nothing wrong with timing, fuelling, boost or duty cycles. The mapper says it feels as though there is a restriction somewhere in the system. The car doesn't have any boost leaks, exhaust leaks and the uppipe and downpipes are all heat wrapped. I am at a total loss...............if anyone has any ideas please feel free to voice them as I need help. Thsi has been a monumental disappointment and has cost a fortune to boot. I'm not chuffed. Still thinking of looking for another car....................... Dave

Welcome to the mad house Gibby...............if there is anything to want to know then give me a shout. BTW the car looks really good. Dave -
Totally agree with you Grant on this. The GY Eagle F1 is the best all round tyre on the market by a long way. I will not buy any other brand. Dave
