  1. They look vaguely familiar[] I take it you just swapped the one side as the other 2 don't have tyres....or do they!?? Hope you're happy with them. They are clean enough but a proper coat of paint and they'll be near mint!! Always meant to give them a final rub and coat but then I'd have asked more for them[]

  3. Might just be up for one of the half day places cos I doubt the Legacy could take a whole day's abuse. I expect the morning session will be quieter than the afternoon.
  4. Well I'm far from your area so wouldn't know where to go but have had problems with these in the past. Its a real pain. £15 a wheel is a rip off though as it doesn't require any extra time to do. They just fit a hub to the machine and mount the wheel on it. So they either have the tool or don't so I would refuse to pay over the odds for it. I had to get 4 tyres taken off a set of rims and onto a set of cyclones then balanced up with new valves and paid £30 for a specialist up here in Glasgow to do it. Wasn't a bad deal. Try phoning all the wheel dealers in the area or even powder coaters as a last resort. I find if you say you can get it done cheaper elsewhere some will drop their price to get the busines if they are quiet.
  5. Got a nice set of wheels from a local forum member but one has been badly kerbed. I'm looking into getting it repired but so far it doesn't look cheap so if anyone has a spare kicking about then pleae let me know. Cheers
  6. No experience of Subaru fitments by Bilstein but I do on my pug. The Streetline kit is pants, way too soft. The Sprintline on the other hand is a bit more like it. A tad stiffer than standard but still gives a good ride. I tried AVO's once and they were useless. Bilstein combined with Eibach springs were a good choice in my experience.
  7. Get a big rag doll and chuck it in front of them next time. That'll scare the sh1t out them and maybe make them realise how easily it could have been a kid running out onto the road. I know for a fact if anyone hit my kid due to reckless driving they'd be beaten to a pulp. Try get their numbers and report them. I had some muppet try to run me off the road a few months ago and went to the Poilce to report them and as I had a witness I could have got them done for dangerous driving. Was an extreme case and it had to be done and completely unprovoked too, guy was a full on headcase. Just asked for him to be given a warning and logged on the Police records.

  9. Try Meguiars Scratch X. It's pretty good at removing light scratches. DOes a good job of getting marks off in my experience and even if it doesn't work on your problem its handy to have.

Thrash my mum's Z4 up there and the twisties are great fun especially in the wet! Some real dodgy bits you don't want to lose it at though due to the drops! Keeps the adrenalin pumping. Went round it on a fast bike once and that was even scarier!

  13. Ok before and after pics of my DIY wheel refurb. Bear in mind this cost me under a tenner to do so not exactly powder coating quality Anyone want to buy them then let me know. Got 3 really good tyres and one a bit worn on inside A huge inprovement I think. They were getting really tatty and bubbling and kerbing all over them. Spent ages sanding them down to make sure the paint will stick properly and not flake off after a few months!
  14. Went for the Legacy over a WRX due to the load capabilities as its a reqirement for me just now. I always liked the Impreza even way back when nobody really knew what they were like. They are very good cars but I think they suffer from an image issue. Not that they are bad cars, far from it, but it seems they have developed a boy racer image which is a bit unfair to the enthusiasts that drive them cos they are damned good fun, like on here. I reckon its down to the minority of drivers that hassle other drivers by tailgating and cutting up and genreally being aggressive. Not fair as its not the cars fault and down to the individuals. You get a bit more hassle in an Impreza as I imagine everyone thinks you want to race all the time which must get annoying. I still quite fancy getting one at some point. I do fancy meeting up at some point. I particularly like the odd track day or karting session but I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment. Aren't we all!! Like to see how the old bus gets round Knockhill. But not been up there for a few years due to the number of nutters and chav's that seem to be taking over. Organised evenings would be good sometime. I hear East Fortune is quite good too. Kind of a kart track so tight and twisty.
  15. Think in the meantime I will do a DIY refurb on the BBS rims. Will make them easier to sell on I suppose. Did a fairly good job of the last wheels I did but these will be more of a pain due to the number of spokes and angles!! I'll give it a go and post up my efforts
  16. I'd go with the F1's. Got a set on the front of my golf and can safely say they are ggod in the wet. I moan a lot about how dull the golf is to drive but on a wet road I now have more grip on the front so can actually get a bit sideways in it. Has Bridgestones on the rear which I thought were pretty good but the F1's have the edge. Had Continentals on my 306 rallye and they were great allround too.

  18. In theory stiffening up the rear ARB WILL help to stop understeer so assuming the steel links are more rigid then it can only help. Plastic ones probably flex a tad more. Better off putting a thicker ARB on though I'd expect. Have a thicker ARB on the rear of my pug 205 Mi16 and it makes the back end even more twitchy. You thought oversteer was bad enough on a std 205, mine is way more fun!!

  20. Nope no wheels as yet. Still doing some research. I hear some Audi wheels might fit. Always liked the S3 rims. Seems the Legacy has quite a high offset of about 52mm. So unsure if Impreza wheels will fit it. They have the same PCD and similar offset. Not sure if a few MM will make much difference. Suppose main thing is clearance for brake calipers. Plans for the 'BUS' are limited. Bought as a cheap quick family wagon. Would like to sort out the 'Valley of death' AKA lag between the turbo's which is a pretty big flat spot! Apparently they all suffer from this and a modified intake helps. Had a go at removing a small parking ding in the rear door and have to say I did a not bad job! Not completely gone but an improvement. Ideally I'd like to get the minor dings out by a good dent devil/master/wizard. None are that bad but I know they are there. Wheels are really letting the car down though so that will be 1st on the list Like these wheels - on the White car PS not my Postcode

Can't stand those muppets with seats fully reclined, burbery baseball caps, silly bass boxes and think they can drive. Love proving them wrong. The Legacy is less prone to getting hassle than an Impreza I presume. Kind of Q car looks which I kind of like.
  22. Bought my 2nd Legacy GT Twin Turbo Estate, 183kw version so allegedly 245bhp but feels more like 210-220 to be honest. Had my first one while in New Zealand and they have a good Subaru Forum which covers all Subaru's. Was called ClubSub!! Very knowlegable guys on there too and I found it to be a good site for info and help. Couldn't find a UK forum that covers all, bar the new site that doesn't seem to have taken off yet. So can I get a home here without getting any grief about driving a big old bus!!
