It all depends if you want to keep the warranty. Above 60k miles, the cover is not as good and it costs about ?£450 Mine had 65k on it this summer when I had Ecutek done by pat at scoobysport and a full decat. Brilliant! boosting at 1.25 bar and sounding the part, too. Cost? About £1400. Say a grand accounting for the money saved on the warranty. The thing is, would I have been happy with 240 PPPhp and not ?280hp(not checked - yet) Ecutek? Probably, but once you start, you want more, and if you take the non warranty route, you can plan for a bigger turbo etc etc Ask yourself how serious you are about more power. If you think you might get serious in the future, go for Ecutek and leave your options open.....

Well - this is my 2nd scooby, my first, a Green 94 wagon went a couple of years ago when I got the DBM saloon (yes Boxer22 DBMs forever!) with 25k on it. I wanted a prodrive but they were like rocking horse poo then and mods were out of the question on cost grounds. This summer, I was thinking that 65k was time to change (P1?) but it was only worth about ?£9k? and P1s about 17 if you are lucky and 20 if not, so I thought WTF shall I do? Then I discovered Liverpool Victoria and their wonderfully refreshing attitude to mods ("the only mod we are interested in is an engine change....." Yemaaaaaan A Scoobysport (Janspeed) full system, Ecutek and Gp N+ brakes later, I'm happy as a pig in s**t, we rumble and burble and, er, roar occasionally and I'm happier now than the first day I picked up the green wagon AND I'm now paying £200 a year less for a modded car! Scoobies forever!
