About Biscuit

  1. Hello guys and Gals Hope you remember me, the one who used to ask loads of questions Just thought I would let you know that I have found an old heatshield that I bought for my Classic and hve put it on e-bay (Item number: 4587723377) Still see the old Impreza every day as one of the lads at work bought it. He has put on a dump valve, turbo timer, various gauges and an induction kit. Car still looks gleaming, never know, when the time comes on to sell the Porsche I might make him a reasonable offer. Bill
  2. Hi all Just thought I would pop in to see how things are and to let you know that an associate of mine at work is running a Classic turbo wagon with an LPG conversion Sounds like he has been running it for more than a year or so, costs him about £18 for a tankful and car goes better on LPG than petrol. Was done in the Southend area I think. My old car was bought by one of the chaps at work, he has de-tangoed and is looking to put a dump valve on (thought he had no money), see the keys lying on his desk and often mistakingly think what are my keys doing there, then I remember. Am enjoying the 968 though am very happy with things. Good luck to all Bill
  3. As title, have now found a buyer for my Subaru, g/f still thinks that we are selling the wrong one, I was half hgoping not to find a buyer so I could put it in storage but the money will come in handy (£60 for a tank ful in the Porsche !) Thanks for all your advice and help in the past, will recommend SIDC to all Scoobie owners I meet. Car is going to a young lad at work, seems he is already enquiring about dunp valves etc, if he looks after it I may well make him an offer when he eventually sells it. Porsche is running well, had to get replacement wheels for the passengers side as mine are bent it seems ! Also just ordered a set of front shock absorber inserts from Koni, £85 each inc vat, originals are £192 each + VAT, mechanic reckons the additional work fitting the inserts will add about £50 to the overall job so quids in. Anyway, enjoy your cars, will always look up when I hear the burble, and if you get a wave from a metallic grey 968 sometime it will be Biscuit unable to get out of the habit. Bill
  4. The check engine light came on this afternoon while on the way home, fist time this has happened. Was looking for somewhere to stop when it went out so decided to carry on home at a sedate speed. Fuel tank warning light had been on for about 10 miles (had meant to go out at lunchtime to fill up but forgot) and I had been going round a sharp bend fairly fast when it came on, could there have been a problem with starvation or low fuel pressure I wonder. Filled up and drove home, all seems fine, engine running OK. Checked the oil which was fine, car was serviced only a couple of weeks ago so I have no idea what could be wrong. Any pointers would be helpful. Ta Bill
  5. Buy my good condition MY00 Classic for £8,295, spend loads doing it up, you will have an ace vehicle ! Bill (Yes, its not gone yet !)
  6. Is one of the reasons my car seems to be refusing to sell is that peope are afraid of mods ? I haven't got that much done but could it be the reason for the lack of callls. One prospective buyer is a bit worried that de-catting the downpipe will make passing the MOT difficult. Will it ? Bill
  7. Steve, Porsce going well, have now done all the little jobs that needed doing, sunroof movement corrected, rear speakers replaced, rear wiper motor replaced, centre and front glove boxes repaired. Even found a plug to make my old Motorola mpx200 totall hands free. Plan to start using it full time next week wether or not the Scoobie goes. Bill
  8. My Classic could probably do with new pads and discs on the front very soon, I have had a price from a local independant who seems to have a good name in the area and he reckons that for genuine parts he can do it for £186 inc VAT, anyone know how this would compare with a franchised main dealer ? As car is now virtually out of warrenty I am looking elsewhere. Hopefully the car will be sold before this needs doing. Am going to find out clutch replacement cost in the morning as I do have a prospective buyer who is a bit worried that this might need doing soon. Plan is to stop driving the Scoobie by the end of this week, sold or unsold. Will store it in a mates garage while I use my 968 for a year or so, then I will still have a decent car to fall back on if the Porsche goes out of favour. Bill
  9. My car does not seem to be getting any tkers and I am not going to sell it for stupid low money so a mate of mine has said I can store it in his garage, I will probably get tired of my Porsche some time so it will be nice knowing I have decent car to go back to. What sort of insurance cover do people think I should get, am having problems getting third party quotes of the net, wondered if there was a special storage type policy. Car was in for a check over before the extended warranty runs out today, no problems identified, it has actually never been better. Bill
  10. I replaced the fronts a well, what a difference ! Would recommend it (plus a strut brace) to anyone. Bill
  11. I have now had my car for sale for 3 weeks without a sniff, do not think I am being unreasonable (at £9k now) with the spec it has (leather and air) for an X reg car FSSH and a bit of warranty. Looking at the For Sale section of the site there seems to be others looking for buyers as well. When I bought mine nearly 2 years ago I had to chase all round the country to find good Classic, now they seem as common as Ford Escorts (saw 3 on the way home tonight). Hopefully something will happen soon, anyone interested in a good car with all the right boxes ticked give me a ring, 07742 409166. Bill
  12. Still got to sell my Impreza if anyone is interested, got up to £5,600 offered on ebay tonight but my reserve is £9k, surely this is not an unreasonable amount for a decent car. Unless I get the right price I am thinking of hireing an empty garage to store it in for a year or two so that I can jump back into it when I have had enough of the 968. Can not believe how much values have dropped. Was told by a BMW garage that they gave £10k for a 18 month old STI in Px for a 5 series. Mad !!!!! Wonder if anyone knows of the whereabouts of one of these car park car sales I have heard about. Bill
  13. Looked at a 911 but not practical for every day, the 968 has quite a lot of luggage space plus with only about 1000 in the UK is quite a rare sight. 3 litre engine is an in line 4 not flat. Bill Soobie now on e-bay.
  14. Well, here it is, the car that hs tempted me away from the Scoobie. A 1993 Porsche 968 Coupe with 59,000 on the clock (less than my MY00 Impreza !) Can not wait to drive it regularly (in storage till Scoobie has gone) Bill
  15. Not Club Sport, but standard Coupe is still pretty quick ! Anyone want to buy an Impreza ! Bill
