  1. Surely at the first traffic light GP there would be in close order: not much - a big popping noise from the drivers footwell - the rev limiter - the "you're a ****" light coming on on the dashboard - pulling over to remove broken bit of rubber from the carpet?
  2. That was clearly me. You could tell because the wheels were identical. All the lights and graphics and that can be easily edited in like Photoshop or its video equivalent. The cheek of some people That guy on the Segway annoys me every day, just wanted to teach him a lesson. Can't believe someone has posted me on the net
  3. I had to get a new rad for my bug-eye during the summer after the neck randomly cracked. Took it to Subaru as I didn't have the time or the tools to do it. Cost £360 all in, of which £160 was the rad itself, the rest being a whole set of new hoses, the labour and the VAT. Ouch
  4. Wow. Hats off And I thought the Litchfield Type 20 was mad!
  5. There are places in Kent where such a thing could be done, albeit 3 at a time, not 6 abreast. And who on earth is going to be running 600bph?!! Maybe I'm a bit naive but Scoobies tend to take on the aerodynamic attitude of a housebrick over 130 and above 120 anyone with a TMIC is going to experience serious cooling issues. I love mine for the surge off the lights and the mid-range. Admittedly I'm going to be nowhere there after a standing quarter, but 600bhp?
  6. I don't think that they'll be doing any US filming in the future though, especially once they watch the bit when the officers pull them over and Jezza is not very subtly giving them the bird!
  7. When I bought my Scoob it had a full set of Marangoni Zetas, which I'd never heard of (but have latterly come to know are a "budget" brand). When I needed to replace the rears I was recommended to put on Toyo TR-1s as the closest equivalent to the recommended premium tyre (and I know lots of people here have them) which I did. The handling has never been quite the same since. Maybe the super grippy rears are pushing the front out of shape or maybe the Proxes are struggling to match the Zetas, but either way, I found the handling on a full set of Zetas to be pretty damn good. Certainly got me out of a few bum clenching situations while I was learning the limits of my car (or more realistically me ). Utterly dismal in the snow, but then all summer tyres are. In terms of places to buy tyres, Rez down at Bower Lane Tyres in Maidstone has always seen me right. Proper back street tyre fitter - no luxuries but you get the tyres you want at a decent price. I even went there once having ordered a specific set of Eagles for the Golf and their suppliers brought them the wrong ones which they then fitted. I thought the tread looked odd when I picked up the car but only double checked when I got home. Rang them, they said "Very sorry, keep them for a week and we'll put the proper ones on next Saturday. Don't thrash them." And I didn't. Why would I, a free set of tyres to be replaced within a week? But seriously, I didn't because it was such a nice gesture. Honestly Rez, I didn't!
  8. Heretic
  9. Blue classic on the Tonbridge Road in Maidstone on Sunday evening. Was behind it most of the way up the road. Sounded awesome. Had to keep in a really low gear to even hear my own
  10. Saw a very nice sounding classic with 555 decals on the one way system in Maidstone Friday evening being shadowed by a very bad sounding Honda.
  11. I just like the low speed rumbling burble that says "Yes, I'm going slowly and kinda in the wrong gear now, but if I put my foot down, it'll suddenly be precisely the right gear and I'll be going away from you very very quickly"
  12. In 187 pages of spotting, I've never been spotted! I know that Northrup use a special black paint for their stealths, but they've seriously missed a trick by not using Subaru silver! Even Shiralee has only heard the car and not seen it. I am properly invisible. Will have to try it on the speed cameras at some point!
  13. Dunno about keeping the revs low. I know mine sounds far nicer rolling around town in a gear too low than it should be than it does going hard in 5th! Having said that, I've only got a Scorpion cat-back, so I'm quiet compared to the rest of you anti-social sods
  14. According to the thread below, we're both right! Kind of. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/archive/index.php/t-577325.html It seems to be a bit of a grey area.
  15. My understanding is that aftermarket HIDs require washers and wipers or it's an MOT fail. Which sounds like a lot of aggro.
  16. Starter motors respond well to the following treatments (in ascending order of severity): rocking the car; being hit with a hammer; being replaced (possibly after being hit with a hammer)
  17. *wants* *like now*
  18. I don't have anything as posh as Brembos on mine, but I do have Tarox track day stuff. Funnily enough it was in for a service recently at the dealers and they pointed out there was only a few thousand miles left on the front pads. They offered to replace them. "Standard front pads?" I asked. "Yes". On hardened vented discs? Errr, I'll pass thanks
  19. Hey! I'm the official dodgy looking guy with a Scooby
  20. Nope. I have a silver bug eye WRX but I'm not from sittingbourne. And there's another guy who lives kind of opposite me who has a silver classic wagon. Maybe you're thinking of him.
  21. Thanks, well spotted I did have a quick look for anyone posting "What happened to me today" or the like but shiralee's topic title foxed me! Hope she gets it sorted with minimum aggro and always happy to help out.
  22. Lots of spottage today. An impressively shiny black new age STI on Station Road in Aylesford, a heavily modded silver wagon down my road with a rather unhappy looking front end which I haven't noticed whenever I've seen it before, and on the A20 in Larkfield tonight a classic driven presumably by someone called Wisey.
  23. I was in for a service last week and spent a bit of time when I went to collect browsing around the showroom waiting for them to finish my car. The WRX and particularly the STi models look better in the flesh than they do in pics, but to me they still look like an muscley Kia Ceed. The new model doesn't even have frameless doors! It's a step too far for me. I may one day upgrade the bug-eye for an RB320, but more likely I'll "switch" and go for an Evo. At least they've kept the faith. And now they have proper service intervals!
  24. Ported heads or a bigger turbo - I'll pay for the remap myself!
