Hi Guys, thanks for the comments on the website
It also helps cut down the amount of general emails that come in each day !
cheers

Thanks guys (and John - must be after a free mapping )
One thing that puts Marks car in Club class is the weight, its still a full weight fully trimmed Sti 5, right down to the ashtray and radio !
Last weighed at 1280kg and that was before the accusump and fuel pump/swirl pot set up was added so over 1300kg before I even plonk my ass in it
To put that in context, Kevs scoobyclinic car is 1050kg with the same power so its like carrying 3 passengers !
this why andy no repling to his e-mails? sent two for a map but to no avail?I am up to date on my emails as from this evening so if you have not had a reply please send again.
cheers

Yup !!
I had to read that more than once..i thought you were talking about me for a minute
You were right first time Frank I've seen those vans go, never managed to catch one yet

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but thought I'd mention it anyway.
I'll be out testing the Race car at Santa Pod on the Saturday, before attending the event on the Sunday, just incase anyone was at a loose end ! I'm looking to break something, hopefully records !!
Its only 20 miles or so from Banbury.
Just trying to avoid all the "you should have said"s lol
cheers

His new cars slower than his old nail
Oh no it's not Roasting hot day and not a very good run.Just wait and see
Haha, loser

If you still have the original turbo, can you swap over the boost control pipework to the new one (small bore pipes from turbo outlet to wastegate actuator) the restrictor size may be wrong, or even missing on your current turbo.
If that doesn't change anything then I really need to know what its currently boosting to in order to search in the right area.
cheers
Andy.

that looks mega wide with that wing +the bumper mega small and the 2 fastest colours thats got to be got for .2 off a sec
pitty you never done the roof blue, could off made it in a scottish flag (well not a pitty a she looks class the way she is )
Not a bad idea that actually ! We could just add 4x Blue triangles to the existing roof !
I normally just run with the little rear gurney flap for the 1/4m, the car is pretty stable now with the new Prodrive Ohlins suspension set up
cheers

Still undecided on rear lights, the aftermarket options don't 'grab' me and I'm not paying £200 for a set of new Sti ones !
It doesn't look so fat in the pics until you look at what appears to be a very narrow rear spoiler, thats std sti4 width !
The car is way jacked up for drag use in the pics, the suspension/chassis has however been modified considerably in order to let it sit very low and still retain proper suspension geometry for circuit use.
Will probably just 'play' at circuit stuff this year but 2009 may see something a bit more serious
Thanks for the positive comments so far on appearance Deciding on colours and decals has been a bit of a nightmare, we didn't want it cluttered but also didn't want it to look too bare. Also deciding which was the fastest colour Blue or White lol.
May still add some subtle stuff, all photoshop mock ups gratefully received !!
cheers

Just thought I'd put up some shots of how the car is looking now, i will get some hi res posted up soon.
Its more of an all-rounder now with a circuit spec suspension and brake set up, not to mention wide arch kit running on 10x17 rims with 275/45-17 tyres.
We were just at the Pod for a shakedown and nothing fell off or broke which is a bonus !!
I ran a 9.9 for runner up spot in the HKS Pro final, Johns winning 8.0 second skyline runs 1.1 second 60' times !
I was thrown in with the pro drag cars as I had perspex door windows, otherwise I should have been in street class.
Some pics of the car here
My ass look fat in this ?
-
lol, I have an in-car vid of that, I was showing one of the T/A guys the lines in the rain, in particular why to stay off the kerbs lol, so like a numpty on my cool down lap I put 2 wheels over the kerb to prove the point and promptly done a 360
ps that was really just me showin the driftin guys just how far you can go and still get it back
-
They asked to check my in boot too, I didn't have a problem with that. They also looked mistrustingly at my Scottish money but so did the petrol stations etc, that is the norm in my experience.

I think you already done it justice mate, I don't know of any other newage in the UK thats gone quicker on std internals ??
cheers
Andy
-
Oh, believe me I did try !!!
Your terminals suggest a 10 is on the cards for sure Peter
What were your 60' times Jim ? did you fine the launch control aided/hindered you at all ?
Andy
-
That sounds pretty s**** mate, can't say the guys gave me any attitude but then I am a regular down there so it may be different.
Who said what ? I'll bend the organisers ear, the last thing they need is to start alienating people with their attitude

A big WELL DONE goes out from me to Peter, Jimser and AndyN (AWD)
If it hadn't been for mapping you guys last week I could have had my race car ready for Scoobyshootout
However, seeing you all set some cracking times and 3 personal bests makes it all worthwhile
Higgy too, for setting the 'newage' bar higher just a few weeks ago, who would have thought that record would tumble so soon !
cheers
Andy

Now that IS close Peter !!!!
Just for info, as usual the trap MPH at Elvington was out, this time too low by an estimated 14 mph so Andy N should be 134mph and my own car 126mph which makes a bit more sense !

Think about Irn Bru, blue and orange and it looks good. Andy F had his car photoshopped with Irn Bru graphics which he sent to Barrs, but they knocked him back for the permission to use them. I never actaully go to see the pictures and it would be a bit naughty of me to nip in and steal his idea!
Here you go ...

Your Bugeye was going well today Andy, liked your wee sideways moment at Scotmans!
Full calendar tomorrow starting at 11am
XR2'S, Mini Coopers, Legends, Sports & Saloons, Formula Fords, Classics......
Had a few wee moments getting to grips with it in the rain, kept it on the black stuff though once I realised the new kerbs are made of teflon when wet !!
-
Great photos as always Colin, just a pity about the weather.
Love the strongest man in Fife photo its class.
Dougie C
Most of them pictured above were just there for the Hot Marques this morning, only the accord and the Minis are racing tomorrow.

They need to change the stickers on the back of em now, having been 'cuffed' by a lardy 51 plate scooby round Knockhill today
Had quite a good day with scalps including 600bhp 996 turbo, 2x GT3 RS's, litchfield type 25, not to mention a few old taxis that had quote "never been passed by a scoob before"
-
Nice one, excellent value these motors I tried to convince Mrs F that she would like one but she claimed I would take it away one day and turn it into a noisy uncomfortable monster ! Moi ?

So - can I ask a question to the experts..
I am currently looking to get a new gear box (or rebuild the one I've got)
BUT if I rebuild my existing box, is it likely to just break again the next time I take it on the track?
(I'm running 310bhp in a 99 wrx) .. and not planning any more power modifications.
so if I was to upgrade, the only option is a £2000 spend?
I'd be willing I guess, to spend about 700-800 quids on an upgrade.
If you are staying with that power/torque level then an Sti 5 or 6 gearbox would be your best option, £7-800 should just about do it, try API engines.
-
what stealer is it with ?
What were the symptoms John ? ......edit-just read your other post.
The 2.5 WRX runs a 4.1 final drive so the classic UK is not a direct swap.
I run a PPG helical synchro set on my 2.5 spec C, its only slightly louder than std.
