Nice! Sounds like quite a trip! Were you in Le Mans for the race then, or not? I watched some of the race over here on Speed, but hope to make it back there again one day. My past week has been pretty much the other end of the ownership spectrum, having had my engine fail last Wed at 6 weeks/2350 miles. Did the UK 's get hit by the engine production issues (spun bearings) from last year's July/Aug builds? Anyway, I picked up my car today with a new long block in it, and 7yr/100k Subaru warranty, so we'll see how it goes. Hope you get your electrics fixed up soon!

Still to be decided really. To me the soul of the car is still the same, but until I have this one driven in it's hard to judge. From the hints it's been giving, I think I'm gonna be pretty happy with it though. Despite my '02 WRX having had the PPP on it, this doesn't seem far off. It's sightly more powerful still, but a bit quieter. As the revs rise though, even the sound doesn't seem too far off for the last one. Luckily, having an idea what the performance will be like makes it a lot easier to be restrained during the drive in period. First time I've gotten to go through this with a turbo'd car, as the last one had about 14k on it when I got it.

Big time! Just taking the test drive and hearing the transmition whine made me grin. It looks so different on the outside from my '02 WRX, but behind the wheel it's so similar. The whole purchase process was bizzare though, partly because I bought it from an out of town dealer. We arrived in my Mazda, and two hours later left in the Scooby, then had to put it straight in the hotel car park over night as we were staying over in Jacksoneville for a show the next day.

After three and a half years without, I finally picked up my second Scooby the other w/e. At the end of 2005 I moved from Middlesex to Florida, where due to the lack of a work visa I purchased a two year old Hyundai Accent. Not a bad little car, but a little different from the Impreza PPP I was used to. Once I got myself a visa and a job, I leased a Mazda 3. This was a nice car, but... y'know... not an exciting car. Last w/e I finally worked out a deal on a 2009 Impreza WRX Premium (2.5l, 265HP), with short-shift and iPod interface. 600 miles down, 400 to go, but even driving slowly is fantastic. I love it, and can't wait to start driving it to its potential.

It's hard to believe... the loss of Richard Burns doesn't even seem long ago, and now this. The fact that two of the three passengers are reported to have been children makes it even worse. Another sad day.

Been away from here for a while since I sold my Scoob to move over to Florida. You'll be glad to hear it's flippin' freezing here today though! Anyway, any of you see THIS story on the BBC already? Very unfortunate, and I'd be gutted, but do many people take their 'pride and joy' to a valeter rather than doing it them selves? I never have myself.

Really sorry to hear this news. It's a very sad loss.

Hi Mark, hope it's the same driver training day you have in mind. Looked like there were just four cars on it!? Drop me a PM with your address and I'll sent it to you. re. the car, had a search for a temporary run about, but it's only a couple of weeks before I leave for Florida now, so I'm just hiring a car for the last ten days instead. Luckily my girlfriend is pretty much as keen as I am to have another Scooby one day as, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I have two past editions that I'll post to anyone who would like them. Anyone interested? (Can't remember which editions they are right now. I think one has a black blobeye on the cover, and the other has a piece about a driver training day.)

Yep, they have nice, very cheap, 300bhp twin scroll STI's Unfortunately I won't have a job for quite a few months while we decide exactly what we're doing and where we're going to settle, so Scooby2 will have to wait a while. Plus I fancy new Mustang GT for a bit between now and then! Brand new, easily tunable to approx. 370bhp for about £16k all in! Nice thoughts, but we'll have to wait and see how things play out first!
