About Neurons

  1. I had one of these guys on, supposedly a chines guy named Mr Qin. I've spammed him along for about 15 or so emails now, he thinks im "Lord Robert Damon Hill-Vegina Vii"... I faked a uk passport and a birth certificate for this scam, and also registered a domain name and created a site for the family home LOL - he's well and truly suckered! here : Shaftsbury Estate even the passport's date is 1st of april.... hehehe you got to love Photoshop here's a sample email from last monday, the day after our family beaver hunt ------- Hello My dear Mr Qin, I hope you are well. I must take this opportunity to apologise for my slack responses to you, only after sundays most successful beaver hunt, as you might appreciate, I'd eaten my fill of beaver and had gone back for sloppy seconds, making myself feel rather tired by the end of the day, so i took monday off to recover. Anyway, please find enclosed copies of my Birth certificate, and my Passport. I must confess I would have preferred to fax them to you since I can't operate computers too well, and thus I had to use my secretary to photograph the items for me, and get them onto my computer. I must apologise for the poor quality, as she used a cheap digital camera to perform the act. Believe me, I'll bet she's performed many acts infront of many a digital camera! Anyway, I trust you will find my items in order, and hope to hear from you shortly with instructions on the next step. If you require further proof of identity, please just ask. Im sure i could rustle something up to convince you of my conviction in our dealings. thankyou, yours in complete and total secrecy, Lord Robert. ---------------------- any sample emails from you phil??
  2. aye but all the "birds" in shagged out cars are only 14. /2ob
  3. whats wrong with hammerite smooth?? I've always used that! LOL /2ob
  4. No but he is now. I find dido just as er... soothing. Neck.Set(Rope->Get()); while( ! bIsDead ) ; /2ob
  5. Seconded. UK turbs maybe a good car, but not in the same league as the jap sti type Ra's if you're into comfort in any shape or form, your're looking at the wrong machines. its rough & harsh, but precise and devastatingly fast, and the most amazing car i've driven! /2ob
  6. Just been speaking to one of my co-workers who's dad works at sellafield (sp?) , and he was saying how his father is well irate at the govt' because they've known about the impending oil shortages, but have , as usual , done naff all, when the time to act was apparently 10-15 years ago. we're all fuxored. /2ob
  7. As we're all in the group of people with the title "heavy users" I read about this with utter disbelief. its not particularly sensationalist, but when you think about this, especially in the context of current world events, things begin to fall into place, and the future looks more bleak that you can possibly imagine Read about the future as oil consumers HERE WARNING: disturbing reading ahead. discuss. /2ob
  8. arrrgh! performance car on sand alert!!!!!!!!!!1111oneoneone /2ob
  9. on another related point, adding stuff that the octane enhancers are usually made of, (methanol, alkyl lead, higer octane hydrocarbons like olefins etc) does change the exhaust gas composition, and can mess with the exhaust readings your ECU uses to determine the correct fueling. Methanol combustion increases the quantities of hydrogen released - thereby decreasing the other gasses proportionately). Stoichiometry isn't really a strong subject for me -(i'll scrape by ), so take what you've read with a pinch of salt, and as always, if you cant figure it out for youself, only listen to someone you trust implicitly - not some random guy on a BBS Isn't cooldad a petro-chemical scientist? /2ob
  10. I dont tend to use octane booster since after reading about what happens in the combustion chamber im not convinced using addatives to increase octane is a good thing. Here's a few nuggets to chew on. A fuels 'octane' rating what everyone calls the RON value, is not really meaningful when you're looking at how well it will stop your engine melting down. The RON thats used in conversations like this is generally referred to as the Road Octane Number - the one you find the OilCo's quoting "Optimax is 98.6 RON". The Road Octane Number is achieved by taking the average of the Motor Octane Number (MON) and the Research Octane Number (RON), If you're worried about your engine , then you need to pay attention to the MON number. Its the MON number which defines a fuels ability of the unburnt end gases to resist spontaneous autoignition when used in the MON single cylinder test engine. Putting it simply, the MON determines how much abuse you can give your engine with the specified fuel before the onset of knock. Typically (IIRC) Optimax MON is 84.7 and Ultimate is 84.3 - so there's not much in it between the two popular brands, usually people go for optimax because its the cheaper of the two. Its a whole shed load more complicated than just increasing the octane rating, as you can see companies can increase the octane rating without actually increasing the MON at all, since the Road Octane Number is only an average of the RON & MON. Fuels which come from the refinery with a lower fraction boiling point are better quality fuels, and are more resistant to knock. I dont know what's in the octane boosters (alcohols, toluene spring to mind) but i cant see how it will give you the same results as a fuel which naturally has higher octane properties from the refinery.Widening the gap between MON and RON also increases the fuels 'sensitivity' to ambient air temperature changes in ambient temp of ~5 degC would require an increase of ~0.4 MON to provide the same protection against knock. So, unless you're sure that what you're adding to your fuel increases both MON and RON, and hence the fuels sensitivity, its probably better to leave well alone, especially in summer. And since there's no ingredient list on any of these products, im not risking it, i could be doing more harm than good. we had a long discussion on the relative merits of octane boosters/fuels/catalyst devices in the thread here Also As i read your post on the JDM engines letting go (I have an V4 WRX STI Type RA myself , so im in your boat) I think you'll find that there's also quite a few UK cars ended up the same way, but compared to the number of cars that are still working i believe the figures are miniscule. Reading boards such as scoobynet/SIDC gives you a bad impression because so many people report only bad things - you never find threads that say "After spirited drive last night, car got me to work ok this morning" , if you get my drift. I do have some mails concerning the fuel catalyst Broquet, which do make for some very interesting reading, which i've been requested not to post publicly, but can disseminate individually, if you ever get to read them you may understand why! PM me if you're interested. /2ob [edited to add] I am in no way connected with Broquet, or the guy who sells them, David Lock, Or shell, or BP, or anyone else really. I was merely the guy who did the net'digging to try unearth the best ways of protecting my JDM engine, after hearing peccy's car went the same way.
  11. I've been in a Diablo SE30 - Incidentally the one previously owned by Jamiroquai and i have to say, i dont think my scoob felt as fast. Im fairly sure it would cream me after 2nd! but that noise. Nothing beats having that throbbing V12 2 inches behind your ears with only a thin panel separating you from 1/2 a ton of hot engine. Wow, what a ride. The other two arent bad either, but the Lambo takes the piss. (All owned by ex- Team17'ers) Im 'car sitting' the lotus now too, its owner's bogged off back to sweden, (he works for DICE now), and hasn't taken his car , so i've got the keys /2ob
  12. "Middle ground?" LOL well for £8K you're looking at the thin end of the STI wedge, Jap Import STi's 4/5/6 are still fetching £9-£15K depending on version & mileage, so if you do find an import STi , make sure its not a dud & been ragged stupid. decent UK's will probably be more in your price range, and for 8K you'd be looking at very decent MY98-99's maybe even higher mileage 00's. Jap import STI is almost 1/3 - 1/2 more than the UK version, and most places will laugh if you're under 30 on a jap import. I have an MY98 WRX STI Type RA - ok so it the nutter version, and it cost me £13K last sept - 6 months ago. When ringing round UK insurance would have been £520, my RA now costs me close to £1K. big difference.! /2ob
  13. HOLY CHRIST! you really should stop them downloading all that porn from those 0898 numbers! seriously thats a totally stupid amount of money for connection, and not even broadband??? you can now get adsl connections for < £20 a month. so your two months of 24/7 high speed access could have cost you £40 instead of £300! for £300 you could have had a 1mbit line for almost a year!!!!! It never ceases to amaze me how the phone companies/aol/freesh1te can pull a fast one like this. /2ob
  14. Oh Look... White wins looks like i made the right choice then hahaha /2ob
