Me personally, I let it warm up fully and warm down for a minute or so, but if driven hard let it warm down for about 3 to 4 minutes. I was told that it would cause the oil to eventually turn to a sort of sludge, thus damaging the engine??!!

You may want to double check, but that's wot I do.
