  1. One of the best things about the forums was the fact that a thread was able to be left open so that everyone could have there say and put their points across.

    What a load of tripe.

Threads were locked all the time when arguments started and the same old gestapo comments were thrown about then as they are now.

We are not doing ourselves any favors here guys and gals.

More people voted for one choice than another. The party that was beaten feels hard done by and wants to air their feelings, some people are unsympathetic, some people are sympathetic and want to stick up for them.

Guess what, thats what happens in democracy.

What we are allowing to happen is this to mull over and over, and people are stirring and people are adding fuel to the fire.

Bottom line is it has happened and which ever way it affects you you need to deal with it and make a decision to go forward with the club, or without it.

I voted for Karyn, for very similar reasons to Andy. However others have won and I now fully support them.

I have tried to be positive and I have tried to help make peace however Im tiring of it all now as Im sure many others who are loyal to the club are.

If you dont like it, go else where.

Im not going anywhere, even though I live in the USA now, I still support the club and Im still prepared to help in any way I can. Regardless of circumstances or personal dislikes.

When I was in the Army I was replaced in a position by another man because they felt that he was better at the job than me despite the evidence suggesting otherwise. Moaning and complaining served no purpose, I fully supported the man who replaced me and helped him on his way, despite being really annoyed and upset because I enjoyed the job.

  2. Hi Kaz i do apologise for the comment I made in my last post, I have very thick skin and get thrown comments like that to me on a daily basis i'n my line of work, however need to remember other people are not me. I have reflected on what i did say and to be honest there was no malice i'n it just my sick humour i hope you accept this as an appology you have contributed so much to the club over the years i wish you all the best.

    Chris.

Well done for picking up on that Chris, knowing both of you I knew you meant no harm but I must admit it was a bit brutal.

"It takes a bigger man" and all that jazz.

  3. Just as a footnote to what I said earlier, I was given an Honorary Life membership for organizing the Richard Burns Memorial relay, I wasn't comfortable with it as I felt everyone was equally worthy of recognition, however I was delighted at my club giving it non the less.

If it will help the club go forward I would be prepared to forego my life membership and return to paying my fee to contribute toward the good and benefit of SIDC.

  4. Sorry to see you go Karyn.

Thank you again for the help and support when we did the RBMR in 06

I don't think it will be a tall order to keep a presence at all the major events so long as we work as a club in the same direction and not against one another.

Regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with voting, what was promised etc etc, lets try and get on the right track and rebuild/restructure/ but more importantly, re-focus.

We used to have good club, rumor has it, that it still can be ;)

  5. I have been a club member since 2003, why did I join? Not for any benefit other than being in a club surrounded by people who had the same enthusiasm for Subaru as I did. I have owned an Impreza since 2001. The cost was irrelevant, it was being part of the club that counted and I think that this is what we have lost, the attraction of a “good” club, people having desire to join, not what the club can do for you, but what can you do for the club.

I joined a club that organized (and still does) some of the best track days around.

I joined a club where I could learn about a car that excited me, which I didn’t know very much about.

I joined a club that was nation wide, not just a local club.

Certainly in 2003 when you looked for a Subaru club in the UK, in my eyes the SIDC was where you wanted to be.

Accountancy discrepancies and personal dislikes aside what is people’s problem?

Ill tell you what has gone wrong, from the large club that we used to be, we have splintered off into our own wee worlds and to be perfectly honest its really no ones fault! Club areas have wanted to build their own wee empires and run their own affairs and accounts and eventually become their own club stand alone from the SIDC.

This became apparent to me as I drove the length of the country in 2006 collecting the money for the RBMR that each district had raised, I came up against more and more people wanting to raise the cash in the name of the Relay and the cause, but wanting to put their own badge on stickers or t-shirts or give a percentage of the charity money they had raised to something based in their district and it became a bit difficult to control and at times I had to make some unpopular decisions.

However, as I drove that day from Lands End to John O Groats, round the M25 and up to Kames, and then North the next day, as I made every planned collection stop I was greeted by hundreds of people either members, friends or non members who were all there for the good and benefit of the special deed that SIDC was doing. CADS, LADS, SS, Essex, 555 Wagons, it didn’t matter who they were, they stood up and were counted.

As I left every stop I had tears in my eyes from the kindness and kindred spirit that the Club had provoked. (Except for when GMAC tried to poison me)

And that my fellow club members is what we need to get back.

We will never manage to get all the splinter clubs to come together as one, it would be like herding cats.

But what we should do is try and get everyone under the SIDC Umbrella.

    Running their own affairs

    Running their own budget

    Running their own events.

However as much as possible every individual District supporting each other, group visits, joint events, we scratch your back, you scratch ours etc etc.

We all contribute a percentage to membership, True Tripe, etc etc.

Scooby Ball is not only accessible to a few, we have functions all over and you attend the most realistically close one.

This takes organization and this takes those in power to give it their all.

“But we have tried and it never worked”…………………..Then you try harder.

    Rant over.

  6. cheers Callum, the car shes looking at is a standard uk my99 and has had the kit fitted for several years and apparently it was 2 grand proffesionally fitted at the time.

was wanting to check that there was no hidden expenses lurking round the corner - always suspicious as to why someones seling a car theyve looked after and spent cash on but this one seems to be checking out

I think that as longs as every avenue has been investigated and you and you alone are happy with the findings, the answer you seek should be pretty obvious.

There are cowboys out there that will fit "a" kit to any old car, however if the company is reputable with a clear history in LPG conversions, and you cannot find any horror stories, its fine.

Remember this, increasing octane will reduce the likely hood of detonation, hence turbo charged car owners reporting the car runs well - the result of the ecu showing more ignition because your det thresh hold has been increased slightly. Thats presuming that all is good and your OEM injectors are up to the job of supplying enough LPG which I think they wiould be. If Im wrong I'm sure someone will be happy to come along and tell me so.

When you switch back to petrol however, the det thresh hold will drop, so the engine will see det earlier and therefore pull ignition advance from the car. This would back up claims that the car feels to run better on gas.

  7. Any probs when you strap on a turbo and up the boost? Does it cause probs with the vapouriser, unless you're, say, on liquid phase injection... thought kit like that was harder to come by?

Not challenging your knowledge base BTW... genuinely interested!

The legacy was a twin turbo, and the guy in England I know who runs his scooby on LPG owns a 98 wagon turbo as well.

The cheaper installations will be "one size fits all" with interchangable parts depending on your engine capacity, so as I mentioned in my pervious post its important the installation is the correct one for the type of vehicle you own. As always you get what you pay for so it would stand to reason that you researched the subject properly.

If I can find the number Ill give Dave a call and see what he says but like I said he had nothing but praise for the system and said he could hammer the car just the same as when it was running on petrol without any issues.

These systems would be for a standard car. If you were going to run it on a car which was modified and which had a higher amount of boost being generated by the turbo, then I would suggest the person spoke to a mapper to see if the car could be run on gas at the higher boost level, and if it could, them have a map for the car with gas, if that was possible.

Edited to include this link, have a look around the sight as well.

  8. I looked into this a number of years ago when I had the leggy GTB.

LPG can be likened to 102 RON fuel, I know of at least one Subaru owner who swears by it.

As long as the installation and equipment you use is all good and done correctly, and you follow whatever guidelines are laid down for your vehicle there should be no issues.

The only reason I never converted the Leggy was because I sold it and bought a Mercedes Pace Car Spec CLK 55 AMG and there was no way I was letting anyone butcher that to install LPG.

  9. I see godspeed do kits rather than pads only? maybe mistaken.

best price i can find so far is £160 delivered in a day from camskill, for front and rear 1144s

Scott swore by performance friction, said they were outstanding., he was harsh on his brakes, like you are. The hotter your pads make standard discs, the more chance you stand of warping the discs.

  10. I always enjoy reading about people moving onwards and upwards with their projects, or in this case competition/race car, and seeing the progress made as the years progress.

I enjoyed reading and watching John's red car and then the development of his current car, as I am enjoying reading about your Arch. It makes me want to have a go myself, but until my position is more locally based Ill need to wait.

Good luck with all your future plans and I look forward to meeting you one day.
