i think i have mentioned this before. some people are good at driving fast, some slow, show and shine, speaking, not speaking, doing, talking about, playing the banjo, breakdancing, fixing things whatever. I just realised that in pishy sales course along the way......when people stand up and introduce themselves even for 30 seconds everyone gets that gay I FEELMORE CONFIDENT NOW THING and as i mentioned before as much as it seems a bit clark kent and best left for banjo and ukalaley players............i think it would make for new people. not newbies to feel more welcome. the last thing new members needed is to be treated like a throbbing member rather than a new member. as some lunatic said on the tv COMPRONDAI?

i suggest we have a the next meet at Hillington. I suggest we all sit together, and if it means arranging tables so we are all in one massive group then thats good. if they dont like it we can find somewhere that will accomodate us all sitting like the knights of the round table. I suggest we all stand up like dafties and introduce ourselves and state what nice shiny car we have (that breaks the ice and lets us all know who we all are) I suggest we try and make newbies feel as welcome as possible by taking a real interest in them, their cars and what they have to say. However.......... i know that in 9 days time i will have to endure another glasgow meet whereby Cyanide and bamboo shoots into my toenails comes in the shape of another mundane meet in the dreary surroundings of the "brewers droop" in Stepps. the apparently most central RV for all glaswegians.lol. if i leave now i should get there for the 12th Im seriously hoping that we will be able to do something exciting this year in our region other than look at each other for a few hours until we feel a bit seedy and drive home. I might go, i might not. i remember when there was about 40 people at our meets and we all had more to talk about than who was a d1ck and it was a good thing to attend. whats happening.................? bring back hillington and the laugh we once used to have

just looked at the original post again on this thread. 40quid, disco, entertainment etc, 3 course meal.Maybe you could sandbag it for another time if you think time is against you and the interest isnt there. people in general may believe its easy to organise anything scottish scoobies orienteted. wether it be RO's organising meets, squirrel and Imy organising runs for us all, SS clothing, Karting, John arranging trackdays, the day we had the BBQ at crail courtesy of Matt, Wilky organising a national relay,even thinking and arranging meeting points and times for events is hard work at times.................takes effort from the people that are just members like everyone else but choose to do it cos it benefits everyone. if the things that are organised or proposed are a bag of shat then feel free to propose ideas and make the effort to organise something !!! its the same people all the time that are doing the work for us all, month in month out. this is very frustrating im sure. the club wont just tick over without all the members making an effort to support each others suggestions and also sometimes starting a thread titled "HERES AND IDEA FOR....X" or "WHAT WOULD PEOPLE THINK OF A DAY AT...........X" give it a try folks....you never know, it may take less effort than you think

are we adopting the mindset in general of scottish scoobies here whereby we are jumping from a burning house thats not on fire again? I would have thought that given we currently have 36 people looking to attend this, then another 7 couples committing is a walk in the park? Is it now fully cancelled or if another 7 couples minimum attended could this event still be reincarnated into the excellently planned and desgined event it will be. Maybe i personally have picked up wrongly on what its about? I think its about all of us getting together in our best clobber (tux/kilt for the guys and Evening dress for the ladies). In my experience of these things its a great excuse to get drunk, have a good time and mingle with likeminded people. it does not mean that you have to run from one side of the room to pick a girl to dance to the tune of the Gay Gordons and the Dashing white sergeant..etc etc. There will be a band, a dancefloor (where you can breakdance if thats your thing/like me) a bar, a meal and a good night. So..............if as i suspect this can be rectified depending on people realising that we only have one shot at life and who knows, YOU MAY ACTUALLY ENJOY IT !!!! Only spooks can telll us if its really too late. I would say to people that want to go but arent quite sure WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE? £40 and a hangover? ive spent more on an oil change ffs

although as a scottish scoobies supporter i regularly grab anyone i can to tell them to join the club and have the glorious badge on my car... i have neither the time, patience or interest in trawling through the threads from top to bottom on the offchance that some lunatic has written something offensive to the people of jebrovia or mentioned that they raced at 29mph in a 30 before finishing a whole bottle of wine between 12 of them. hats off to the guys that do it. i would be more than willing to organise a group buy on headtorches for the wee hours
