  1. The mounting position on the floor is the same as the 4dr, the problem is arising from the fact that in the 2dr, the main hoop follows the B pillar, whereas obviously the 4dr doesn't, and where in the 2dr the B pillar meets the roof, there is extra strengthening that isn't there on the 4dr and thats what's causing the problem.

We can work round it if need be, just need to know 100% that this is definately the correct cage, as there should definately not be this problem.

The Custom cages offering is the same for the 2dr and the 4dr in the respect that all the important tubes are the same. The 4dr kit has a couple of extra wee plates to strengthen the B piller that the 2dr doesn't have.

If you think a weld in cage is gonna be 100% accurate and just drop in without a little/lot of fettling, you are dreaming :D

  2. Hi, good news is the rumours are false and the engine didn't blow, in fact it saw through two out laps due to traffic, then two flying laps (all be it, compromised by power due to measures taken to aid it's survival) then it got me back to the pits (never a good feeling walking back :crying: though it had gone a bit lame by this time :D )

Three things saved it, the strength/quality of the Lateral bits, Chy's build/block (if it had been an EJ257 it would be shrappnel right now) and some very clever use of the Solaris ECUs facilities by Andy.F

We new ahead of the final what was going to happen out there and Andy, remapped it to suit. Thank you Mr F ;)

I'll say this for the build and the parts in it, they are fecking strong ;) To be subjected to what they were put through and to still be in one piece is something else :)

  3. Another long day in the garage today, thanks again to KennyS and Arch ;)

Kenny finneshed off the brakes with the exception of shimming the AP calipers.

Most of the fuel lines are now done.

More importantly the engine is now in :D

Heres where we are at, Arch and KennyS were here today and we got a lot done. Pictures don't do it justice as most of the work was Wiring, but peeps seem to like pics so here they are :D

  5. think the Simtec comes built in with knock detection, but will double check with andy

    cheers :rotfl:

Who is building the engine ? Ask them how to run it in, their tolerances and the way they've Honed it will pretty much determine the runing in procedure

  6. If x mean 0 then probably yes. Didn't you run your last one in on the trailer John?

No Colin it was run in on the drive, I turned it off once it was on the trailer :rotfl:

  7. Spent Friday driving down to Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire. I went down to collect some Bling from Pennine. Chy and Phil have been working hard on this, and it shows :D Most of the internals are from Lateral Performance.

They even pollished the Oil separator cover :D

    CIMG1698.jpg

Spent tonight bolting some of the bits to it with a view to getting Andy to make it go Vroom Vroom soon
