bought my sti new with ppp figuring it wouldnt need any mods but fitted a backbox for more noise, then saw a full system going cheap so even more noise, except it needed a remap of course...
then the shocks failed, after the 2nd set lasted 5k miles i decided to get the cheapest coilovers i could which were a huge improvement
now with the extra power and handling i was finding that when i did need the brakes i was hitting them hard and they were the weak link so after an unsuccessful try with uprated (apparently) discs and pads i managed to find a good set of 2nd hand ap calipers and discs which solved that problem
so with the brakes and suspension working so well it seemed rude not to add a bigger turbo to exploit them - and now im at the point where im happy with the car it goes stops and handles the way ive always wanted, it doesnt use any more fuel or is any less useable day to day than standard apart from speed bump avoidance
i never meant for any of this to happen but now i can finally stop spending on it, honest....
What turbo did you up grade to?
-
Not true Peter - there are two cats, downpipe and next pipe
I like your description. Next pipe and the after pipe
-
I'm glad that Archie and Gus cleared that up.
On a Sti there is just a cat in the down pipe.
Best vfm is to save up and decat and straight through system along with a remap to suit. Done it once in a job lot rather than bits here and there.

Very nice Johnny.
Got to admit that type r is the way forward.

Bigger engines my friend
Agreed
-
But you ain't chasing big power so why worry about it.

Ran the khumo v700 on my 627bhp Scooby. The super soft sticks like hell.
-
Loving the hatch Del.
-
I agree with that you have standard heads.
-
On a td05 20g, before i started i got it dyno'd as a standard 218 bhp classic and it had 254.3 at the wheels, a full decat, walbro and re map later it was flying
Says it all really.
The turbo in question is a vf28 whereas you have quoted 347 with a 20g.
Just misleading the op with a sense of false hope with his vf28
