Drove down this morning to the Lake District with my eldest son Fraser on our first ever visit to the Grizedale Rally, beatiful scenery & the sun was a rare sighting to see. Mathew Wilson won it easily with Marcus Gronholm's 06 WRC Focus, Geoff Jones was second in amazingly a GPN Impreza & Barry Johnson was third in his WRC Impreza. Young David Bogie had a brilliant drive in his 1400 Nova beating many more powerfull machines, he finnished 1st in class &11th o/a. Overall this was a cracking rally to attend with easy access to the Grizedale Forestry Complex, the stages were very fast & we did have the odd bit of rain which made for excellent viewing. We'll be back next year if it doesn't clash with the Galloway Hills Rally weekend. Cheers, Del

I'd recomend a Mk 2 Escort in forest rally guise instead of all those mods, much more fun[][] See ya, Del

Hi Johnny, You could try S&S, Subaru main dealers in Ayr.........although they won't be too keen on an import. Greersport in Beith offer a very good service for uk & import models. Hope this helps, Del

I've provisionally booked the first available date(1st Saturday in March 2007) if you guys want another day out. After the superb response for the last one I'm sure we could do a couple or more days next year. Unfortunately the maximum is once again going to be seven drivers although each driver can bring a guest ( the guests get a pasenger run through the forest stage) The price will be the same as last time. You can indicate your interest by posting on here. Cheers, Del PS. I'll post this in the events forum too. -

We were very fortunate to get Bill Gowers GpN Impreza for the troops to get a run in.It just depends on who's coming down for testing on the day. Tommy & Rhona tried to get 2 scoobs for us to have a shot in but one I'm sure was enough on the day. Bills Scoob used to belong to the late Allan Barr & is also the ex David Higgins championship winner. Willie Bonniewell used it to win his class in the Scottish Rally Championship a few years ago too. Some more pics Can you spot the front mounted spare tyre & cone filter[] -
Here's a few pics from yesterdays crackin day out, I thoroughly enjoyed it & I was only a spectator. Surprise of the day for a few lucky chaps was a run in Bill Gowers Gpn Impreza, unfortunately Russel Cree who prepares the impreza for Bill managed to break the lh front wishbone on one of the runs through the forest stages. The remaining victims did manage a run in Rhonas Mk1 Escort with Tam Brown at the wheel. Best driver of the day award went to Craig. Most improved driver of the day award went to Fraser. At the end of the day all the guys who took part were winners. So who now wants to buy a Rally Car????? See ya, Del

I'm sure S&S will sort out the dings & scrapes for the eventual new owner Billy, it just needs a little TLC to bring it back up to scratch. You could always trade in the Bora for it!!!!! Del

Quietly content for the time being, took me long enough to source a good one & thoroughly enjoying the driving experience. Del
