  1. j-k,

I think I misunderstood your "in normal camera housing".. face-icon-small-smile.gif

I took that as like the normal Gatso housing which isn't what you mean.. I think.. lol

Will watch Wrotham hill, I know they have had signs on the down of wrotham hill going coast bound with no fixed cameras for ages.. but they do use the bridges to park a van on with cameras in.. have seen that a few times.

  2. << Specs cameras are painted yellow and are fitted into normal camera housings with what looks like a light on the side. As GTB mark says, there have to be a pair of them across a set distance to work out your average speed. >>

disagree.. SPECS camera look like a camera with two round barrels mounted either side of it usually on the left hand side with a blue curved pole or they are mounted on motorway overhead sign.

You sound to be describing Truvelo camera.

    Have a look here Daddy.

The Truvelo is now usually yellow rather than blue as shown and the Digital SPECS mounting post is often more elaberate than shown.

GATSO takes picture of rear of car and is instant speed calc

TRUVELO takes picture of front of car and is instant speed calc

SPECS records front number plate as you approach first camera, then again when you pass second camera usually a mile apart and calculates average speed.. issues ticket if over the fresh hold.

No fixed camera works a mile away, only the mobile cameras/laser/radar do that either mounted in a van of late or hand held etc..

I'll have to cut and paste then.. doh.. two guys whose cars I mapped last weekend:

<< Massive Thanks to Simon - For mapping my PFC to its limit boy does she fly now all the misfiring probs have been ironed out and its become fun to drive again.Huge thanks to Simon who did an amazing job on sorting my fuelling issues out thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking to invest in a PFC and map absolute diamond bloke >>

    << Cool - saves me a post!

Just to re-iterate what Daren said - was well impressed with Simon - recommended . And really happy with the car - feels scarily quick, and that's with a safe map with more to come with the 440 injectors, when I get them frickin o-rings! , still trying to resist front mount and induction kit but really pleased with what was achieved with effectively a standard MY97 with TD05 FE and decat exhaust/panel filter. (& plugs & headers & fuel pump). What to do next? >>

  4. so 1.4bar would be  plus timing set to match the engine set up with detcans and wideband to set up fueling.. she'd be flying then.

btw I am on holiday for two weeks from Friday so less active on here and not deliberatly ignoring anyone. Phone number is 07976 328061 should anyone want to talk to me etc..

    Thanks

    Simon
