  1. To test the coilpacks you have to gap the spark plugs to 0.6 instead of 0.7. If this improves the coughing/spluttering then its a pretty good bet the coilpacks are on their way out. To test the spark plugs; car in 4th gear, 2000rpm, then foot flat on the floor. If you've got dodgy plugs it will start coughing straight away, also will check your clutch at the same time. Olly.
  2. IMHO if they could of booked you they would of. Is your plate square or too thin? The Evo's have always had square front plates, and alot of JDM stuff has square rear plates. I think they just wanted to check out your car. Cheers Olly
  3. Been all over the web today looking at manual boost controllers and FCD's. I've got the fuel cut bit sorted, found that on the turbosmart website. I am still having problems with the boost controller. All the Subaru stuff relates to later models with different boost control solenoids and associated pipework. All the other sites relate to fitting to cars without boost solenoids. I know that one end goes to the actuator, but which pipe goes to the other end and being T shaped which "end" is which. Also which pipes have to be blocked off? Help. p.s the controller is basically the same as a turbosmart one.
  4. Have looked at the thread and my car doesn't have a T piece that I can see. Its a 94 uk. Anyone got a pic of similar in situ?
  5. Thanks John, I have no intention of letting it go boom. I cant afford a rebuild. My brothers 93wrx went boom £5000 later hes got forged pistons etc.... unichip full decat and fuel pump. He got it back today after about 2 months in the garage + running in. ouch! So basically I don't want to go silly. It ran 225bhp @ 5600 and the mapper said it was a bit rich but that that was a good thing on impreza's. I found the MBC and the FCD on e-bay they were cheap so I bought them. What i'm after is about 1 bar of boost, which I think is not being too stupid. The MBC will allow me to do this but as the fuel cut on an my94uk is set at 1 bar I would want to raise it slightly above that. Also I'm particularly interested in the MBC's ability to give more consistant boost and quicker spool up. I have a boost guage, oil temp and ACT guage and will be getting a knocklink asap. p.s is lambdalink the same as an AFR guage? If you have a fuel controller(apexi safc) can you effectively dial out any leaness until the fuel pump reaches max? Sorry I could go on all night. Cheers Olly
  6. Just got these two items delivered this morn. Neither of them have instructions. I'm just looking for some basic instructions or advice as to which pipes they go into or anything else that needs to be done. P.s. they are both mechanical. The controller is T shaped with SRP written on the side. The FCD is a Turbosmart one. Cheers in advance Olly.
  7. Cheers m8 anyone know if you can get an uprated version?
  8. Have decided to change the coilpacks on my 94 turbo as they look pretty past it. Where's the best place to get them and how much are they? Also is it worth upgrading this part and to what? Cheers Olly
  9. Thanks Derek had it done everything fine for now
  10. Nasty m8 hope you kept pheasant for nice lunch
  11. Very nice m8. Now back to the real world I have heard that an FCD and a boost controller will get the desired effects. Am I asking for trouble and why?
  12. Sorry to be thick, but is a spec c the new model and can you lend me the money cheers Olly
