  11. As we type this, the countdown clock is showing 19 days, 16 hours and 24 minutes to go. Scary stuff indeed. Even at this stage, planning is still franticly taking place so there are some things we can’t say until we know for sure whether or not they’re happening, but we’ll fill you in as best we can. OVERALL PLANNING The three Musketeers had a very productive meeting last night. It’s amazing all the things you have to think about when working on something like this and how many “bits” there are to it. However, it’s all gradually coming together with the pieces left to fit in the jigsaw getting less by the day. The mental Musketeer aka Grant then left Scotland at 2am this morning to drive down to the Auto Tuner show at Brands Hatch to put Gathering fliers on cars and to speak to some of the Tuners who haven’t already signed up to attend the Gathering to try and get their commitment. That same mental Musketeer will then drive back to Scotland tonight to go back to work tomorrow. We make that an 886 mile round trip! Dedication beyond the call of duty, but a complete nutter! An attendee’s information pack is being worked on by both us and Prodrive which will tell you all you need to know about the weekend. This will cover everything from how to get to Lanark Market to joining points en route South and the activities and facilities at Banbury and Warwick on Sunday. Once that’s completed we’ll get it online so you can download and print it in advance. GOBSTOPPER AUCTION Firstly, we have an advance auction starting right now for a very exclusive place in the convoy. Roger Clark Motorsport have kindly offered up the passenger seat in the Gobstopper for the convoy from Banbury to Warwick on Sunday 31st August. Second in the convoy, right behind Colin’s 1996 car – N1 WRC, you will be right up front of a very impressive sight – 1000 plus Subaru’s tailed out behind you as far as you can see – and beyond. For those not familiar with the Gobstopper, it’s a rather special Impreza. This car is famous all over the world for being one of the quickest Subaru’s on the planet. It is a remarkable feat of engineering and is the epitome of presentation and workmanship. With over 800bhp on tap from its monster spec engine the Gobstopper ranks up there as being one of the most powerful road legal cars in the world and would eat the likes of Ferrari and Porsche’s all day long without breaking into a sweat! It is a true all rounder and can compete at the highest level in quarter mile drag or track based disciplines as it is currently competing at the top level in this year’s Time Attack at race circuits throughout the country. You can find out more info on this remarkable car here: http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk/gobstopper.asp Note that the winner of this should ideally be of average build and be aware that there will be very little leg room. To bid on the Gobstopper run, please send an email entitled “Gobstopper Auction” to enquiries@mcrae-gathering.co.uk with your name, phone number and the amount of your bid. We will update the Gathering Website daily with the highest bid so far so you know what you’re bidding against. Note that we’re not going to spam the mailing list every day with the highest bid so keep an eye on the site for that. We will announce the closing date for this auction in due course. All proceeds go into the charity fund. L555 BAT We were hopeful that Jimmy McRae would lead the initial convoy from Lanark Market to the motorway in Colin’s 1995 World Championship-winning car, L555 BAT, but this was always tentative as it was dependent on it being road legal in time. Unfortunately that cannot happen, however Jimmy has agreed he will still lead the convoy in Colin’s personal Series McRae. L555 will be on static display at Lanark along with Colin’s Legacy. We are looking at the possibility of transporting both it and Colin’s Legacy to Banbury and Warwick for static display, but again that is still tentative and nothing is confirmed. STICKER ORDERS CUT-OFF As per our earlier email, this will happen on 14th August. We MUST have your order by then. If paying by cheque, ensure you write your order number on the back so we can tie your payment to your order. Not doing so could delay your order being processed. GATHERING RAFFLE PRIZES Many thanks to those businesses and individuals who have already offered items for this. We’ve got some great prizes up for grabs already – and they’re not all car-related! We’ve a cool digital camera courtesy of Olympus UK and a funky watch courtesy of Nooka UK so there’s going to be something in there of interest to all and not just the petrolheads! Please keep those prizes coming in. The Gathering website now features banners for those supporting us and a dedicated page listing the businesses that have helped us. That will stay up permanently even after the event has passed. Even if you don’t own a business yourself, please hound your bosses if you feel they could offer something suitable in terms of support. A page will be added to the Gathering Website shortly with a full list of the prizes on offer. CUMBRIAN SCOOBS CHARITY RAFFLE Our friends over at Cumbrian Scoobs are holding a charity raffle with proceeds being split between the Richard Burns Foundation and our fundraising efforts for Colin McRae. They asked us to give them a plug so we’re happy to oblige. A list of the prizes on offer are available on their website here: http://www.cumbrianscoobs.co.uk/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1863 Raffle tickets are £1 per strip. Please make cheques payable to Cumbrian Scoobs and send to C/O 134 Moresby Parks, Whitehaven, Cumbria CA28 8XH. 12. We'll be sending out another update later today with other news of the McRae Gathering, but this is very important information. The cut-off date for Sticker Orders to be placed with us is THURSDAY 14TH AUGUST. Stickers sales will be removed from the shop on that day. If we don't have your order by then, you will not be able to get a sticker in advance and risk being denied participation in the event. Note that if paying by cheque you MUST have this in the post to us, first class, no later than TUESDAY 12TH AUGUST. All cheques must be with us by the 14TH - no exceptions. We will remove the payment by cheque option from the Shop on the 12TH. On the subject of cheques, someone sent in a cheque in payment in the name of "Brooks" (or "Brookes"). They provided no other information and we have no outstanding orders in the name of Brooks. If this was you, you must contact us immediately. We cannot, at present, process the order as we have no idea what or who it relates to. If you have already ordered and got your stickers - sit back and relax! Thank you for helping us by getting your order in in good time. If you have already ordered and NOT got your stickers yet, please do not contact us chasing it unless you are absolutely certain 28 days have passed from the date of your order. There is still a backlog, but it is gradually being reduced. If you miss the cut off date, no amount of begging or pleading will get you a sticker in advance. We must remain focused on existing outstanding orders so that so those who ordered in good time get theirs as quickly as possible. We will have a VERY LIMITED supply of stickers at Lanark, and potentially at Banbury and Warwick at the cost of £20 instead of £10 for ordering in advance. Once they're gone, they're gone. If they sell out at Lanark there will be none at Banbury. If they sell out at Banbury there will be none at Warwick. It would be terrible for anyone to turn up on the day and us have to turn them away so PLEASE - get those orders in by the 14TH. Webmasters, please help us by publishing this information on your websites/Forums. Thanks for your co-operation in this and more from us later... McRae Gathering Team

  21. I have to say that this guy has been a brilliant and wonderful guy today along with his sidekick Andy Hall. Eds car went in for cambelt and tensionors and spark plugs and to save costs we used parts from my car. But when we got to the garage we found out there was bigger problems. We had been experiencing an electrical fault which at first we thought was the battery and so bought a new one but it didnt help. Declain today spent an extra hour or so searching for the fault and then gave us the bad news that it was the alternator! Well that was at 7pm! We asked if the one in my car would fit and true to form my car came through for us once more! Declain stayed on until gone 9pm to fit this part for us. He was patient, and was happy to answer any question i threw at him about what he was doing at each stay - a brilliant teacher!. He only charged us labour even though he had to adapt my alternator to fit eds car. We are now home with the car and she is running like a dream. If it was not for him we would not be attending lanark as the car would not have made it. So i hope you lot don't mind but i would just like to give a big thumbs up and say............. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DECLAIN AND ANDY - YOUR GREAT
