  1. Hi again! Enjoyed the show today - there was plenty scoobs to see. Good day.
  2. Hey there - anyone going to the Car Show at Ingliston this weekend? Or been before - is it any good? Apologies if this is listed twice - had some technical errors
  3. Hey there - anyone going to the car show at Ingliston this weekend or been before? Is it any good?
  4. Hi there - I just got my first scoob a couple of months ago. Its a 2001 bug eye wrx. Once you go the scooby way you'll never go back.
  5. Did you lose all the coolant when it stopped on you or do you think it has been a gradual thing? The loud bang could have been a blown gasket.
  6. Hi there I have just got my first 2001 bug eye scoob and am no expert but whilst driving along the motorway recently my radiator cooler head (expansion) tank cracked and caused the bonnet to pop open. I had to get towed as I was losing coolant. Has ur temp gauge been ok recently? You could have been leaking coolant for some reason - hoses etc. Check ur oil and pressure as well, just in case. As I say, Im no expert but it seems owning these scoobs is an education in its self. Good luck - its heartbreaking when they stop on you.
  7. Hi there, Im looking for some advice on my rear back braking plates on my 2001 wrx. They are really corroded and starting to curl up and one side looks as if it may start dragging on the rear brake disc. As they are probably necessary with our fine weather then is it better to replace them or can they be restored with powder coating or whatever. Any comments welcome.
  8. I think I agree about the gold, Mark. Maybe just keep them silver or, as ccrien says could have summer n winter wheels - black for winter, blue for summer! - bit over my budget though.
  9. Thats funny, my partner suggested I go with blue and I spoke to someone with a scoob who went with matt and realised the gloss was a lot easier to keep clean. Maybe a darkish blue - the mystery deepens! Thank you mctwist. The scoob is pretty standard so something a little different might be good.
  10. Thanks guys - thats given me food for thought. I will let you know what I eventually decide.
  11. Hey there I am looking for some advice as I am considering getting my orig spec silver wheels ( which are on my silver wrx ) refurbed. I cannot decide what to go with - should it be 1. Original silver 2. Black in gloss or matt 3. Black with silver glitter 4. Gold (!) - or is that too out there for a silver car 5. Really out there a scarlet red 6. Another option!? I would be interested to know anyones opinions on this and any combos that you have on your cars out there. Thanks folks.
  12. Hey there scoobyjoff - good to hear about your plans for the car. Its the little things that make the difference. I quite like the carbon bonnet look but plan to keep mine pretty standard at the moment. There is so much knowledge on the forums here I can see its going to be helpful. I did get my clock up and running which I was pretty pleased with lol. Gotta start small. As far as I can tell at the moment its got a vortex type exhaust but a lot of it is new to me. Its a lot of fun finding out about it though. Who knows whats next.
  13. Hi MissWR1, I got my bug eye at the beginning of May - Ive admired Imprezas for 10 years or more and never thought I would own one. My last car was a Suzuki Alto so the acceleration on the WRX blew me away! I did wonder about the WR1 so thats an interesting story to know. I would consider getting mine mapped one day and I also hope to have a go at a trackday. I do love the car - too much I think, I cant imagine owning anything else now. Shame we are not nearer.
  14. Spotted a silver 2001 wrx bug eye in Sains car park Livingston today - it could have been my car's twin brother!
  15. Hi there, just got my first scoob (2nd gen - bug eye) and Im in West Lothian. Good to know there is a garage nearby.
  16. Hello there. Result! Your suggestion was spot on, problem solved. The resistor 501 had a dry joint so we resoldered (thanks to my late dads soldering iron) and the clock now works perfectly. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for the advice - we do have a soldering iron somewhere so could give that a go. That was really helpful, will let you know.
  18. My WRXs clock does not work. I noticed from the paperwork that came with it there was a quote for a new clock at around £50 which seems pretty steep. Any tips on how to repair or replace it without having to resort to this?
  19. Hi Im from West Lothian near Edinburgh and my scoob is a bug-eye (2001). In answer to Ben its standard so around 214 bhp and 218 lb.ft torque (I had to look that one up!) - its plenty fast for me though as my previous car was a Suzuki Alto. Ive always loved Japanese cars but this one redefines awesome.
  20. Hi there, Ive just got my first scooby - a standard WRX with STI spoiler. Ive admired them from afar for so long and now my dream has come true! Hope to learn some more and maybe try a trackday.
