  1. Ok so I only does it when up to temp not whilst cold and cuts out when in gear. Does it do it under load or off throttle? No check engine light when it happens? Mmmm you said in 1st post it's a my99 now not to sound like every other post but it could be a faulty maf sensor as they are particularly weak on that year model. Does it have an induction kit or original filter and airbox?? That said the starting issue could be temp sensor? What would be great is if you could find someone local with same model car and swap bits over till you get a result!! Where about in the uk are you?? Graeme
  2. It has done it 4 times in the last 8 months. It has only done it when it's at normal running temperature. It has only done it when it's in gear. Haven't changed or modded anything.
  3. Just checked engine fault codes and it showed everything as normal.
  4. It just cuts out and dies.... and no engine light. Haven't checked the fault codes yet but will in the next hour or 2. It does look like possible Immobilizer problem. But still not sure.
  5. hi everyone, needing some help. today when i was out driving my 1999 impreza stalled twice. the first time was when i was slowing down for a roundabout had only been going around 30mph, the second i was just driving down the road doing around 30-40mph and it stalled again. on both times when the engine would not start for at least 2-5 mins but once started all was ok again. the car does not run or idle lumpy, it run fine when boosting u have no idea what it could be, i have heard that people say it could be position idle sensor, temp sensor or crank sensor. what are everyone thoughts thanks scoobysid.
  6. thanks for the reply, that does look like the gaskets i need.
  7. i thought this would be an easy one for people to answer
  8. hello everyone, this could turn out to be the fast answer to what i need help with....... i have a 1999 classic and my manifold is blowing but it is blowing where the left header is connected to the centre pipe of the manifold. the question is does anyone know what size/type of gasket it is?
  9. I used this page when I fixed my oil leak going from my sump. Great thread and help of out loads.
  10. Will definitely being checking the connection. Thanks for the help guys. I'll be back if I have any more problems or questions
  11. I think I may of fixed my car..... as I can not be sure if the previous owner reset the ecu when he fitted a new maf sensor, I reset the ecu this morning myself and after the reset the engine check light flashed the normal continuously and even flash. took it for a flat out drive for about 10mins and no sign of any problems for the mar sensor. I hope it stays fixed only time will tell.
  12. I think its fault code 23 which is maf sensor, but when I brought the car back in January the guy said it did have a new maf sensor fitted then(but that doesn't mean it still works now) but I don't thing the ecu was reset with the new maf sensor, earlier today I got the car up and running till it was warm and then disconnected the maf sensor then restarted the engine and it ran really lumpy on idle, reconnected the mar sensor and restarted the engine and it idled fine. should I try reseting the ecu and see if the fault is still there? i will upload a video of the engine light flashing the fault code.
  13. OK. I managed to get my car to show the fault by connecting the Blake wires. Does flashing of the engine light stop or does it keep repeating?
  14. only the black ok, what do the green do? will an obd device work as well?
  15. i also tried to if i had any fault codes by connecting the black connectors and the green connectors, but when i done this the car would to anything and nothing flashed up on the dash? but i do have a obd2 connector. is it worth getting it plugged into device that will read it?
  16. i'm running a airbox but it does have a uprated panel filter, when i do find if it maf sensor is broken should i reset the ecu? i;ll have alook at the other maf sensors you mentioned.
  17. i take it this happens alot then with the classic scobby? if so was is the best way of fixing the problem other then changing maf sensor? also does it matter what brand of maf sensor i buy?
  18. I'm having a problem that sounds the same myself so i would love to hear if anyone can help.
  19. I've had mm impreza classic since January and done some tings to it. drivers rocker gasket needed changing as it was leaking, 4 weeks ago i did the sump and fitted a new gasket, and now i have a major problem with the car holding back on full boost in every gear at around 4000rpm and higher, think its 1 of 4 problems - 1, turbo induction hose failing/collapsing on full boost. 2, coil pack could be breaking down. 3, ht leading could be breaking down. 4, maf sensor
