Borders/Lothians - run 01 or 02/10/05
imprezapete replied to imprezapete's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Hi peeps A update to this as follows..... I have done a few routes and the best is about 188miles and it includes a mid point Optimax stop in the borders for the likes of gumball to refill. I have reworked the time and date to come up with a start time of... 17:00, leaving 17:30 on the 2ND of October. Lasting around 3.5 hours and arriving back at a mid lothian Optimax station thats better placed for people leaving to glasgow and up north. I think we will give a garage attendent a heart attack that night lol If anyone has any feedback please post by Saturday the 24TH at 17:00 hours as I will make a new thread with run details for people sign up to. Also I would like to note that there will be some GOOD, enjoyable areas on the run. But the time of the day is important for us to get best of the roads in these area, by the end of the run will have set but not by much. Cheers Pete -
416.93 miles to a tank, has he disconnected the turbo or something? Subaru's own stats show Extra Urban 39.8mpg and Urban 22.2mpg which is a Combined 30.7mpg. Everyone knows that Manufacturer stats are way off as well. I cant get above 295 miles to a tank and that was driving like a nun for that tank on a duel carriageway, he must drive like a slow nun with a slowness disease.

Hi peeps Cars going in for its 30,000 mile service soon, cars sitting at 35,000 at the minute but im not to worried as it was serviced less than a year ago as the previous owner didn't service it at the correct mileage intervils. Anyway i have a coupe of quests that would love to get answers to if possible. 1. I have heard people say get rid of the panel filter for an after market one, but I know the MAFs are buggers on these cars and nearly all after market ones are oiled to heavy. So I was advised by Spooks the good man he is, to get a STi one. So... A. Will Nobles if asked swap the WRX one for the STi one if I pay the difference? B. Will this cost a lot more? C. Is this really a good way of increasing air flow compaired to a K&N one? 2. I was also told that the oil that goes in with the service could be better. A. What would people recommend I get Nobles to put into the engine, I have a downpipe decat, back centre replacement pipe, STi backbox and I will get rid of the centre cat soon. I do want to increase the power next year with a remap at some point as well. Also i got recommended Silkolene PRO S 5w-40 or Motul 300V 10w-40 Chrono By Oilman in General Discussion. B. Will Nobles charge me for their oil if I ask them to put in my own paid for oil that I would supply them? C. I think this service replaces the gearbox oil as well, should I let Nobles put in there own stuff? 3. I haven't sorted out the engine management light due to the downpipe, will nobles have any issues with this if I was to put it in like that? 4. Damn car also wants insured against all those nasty people out there as well!!! Damn this car is as bad as woman for upkeep! :S A. My current is Directline, they are cheap unless you mod the car - £150 for 9 months for a stainless exhaust system!!!! B. Who should I go for next? I dont mind paying a bit more if it means I can mod more and not impact on my premiums. Anyway thats all I can think about at the moment, I will add in more later if I can remember more! Cheers Pete

Basically due to the latest run being pulled. Me and Scoobyandy did a fair bit of ground work for the cancelled run. Alway we have come up with a nice drive round the Lothians and Borders that will take about one tank of fuel to complete from start and back at a Optimax station. I dont know if anyone is interested in this, so I'm starting this thread to see if the following idea would have any attendees. Idea: Borders/Lothians run either on the first Saturday or Sunday of October (01 or 02/10) Meeting at Musselburgh Shell petrol station at about 7:00pm heading south and back up to Musselburgh Shell station for refill and home. Run distance and the pace will allow the STi's and modded people to make it in about 1 tank if your careful, A extra Gallon tankard may be hand if you drive like Gumball Anyway if interested, add your name 1.ImprezaPete 2.ScoobyAndy PS, the roads are all know by me and Andy for maximum affect , but we wont horsing on like the highland run. So more sidate drivers are welcome

Well I went down to Musselburgh to top up the charge. It seems they got another load in but some fuels are out. Never stopped as it was about 20 cars deep at that point so I went to the seafield branch and topped the tank up to last me through any issues. 98.9p a litre too. Tescos Dalkeith was 30 cars deep according to my friend the night and I know of other having issues with damand and supply. Quote of the night Peter'been busy the night m8?' shell clerk'so busy I want to ******* shut shop now!' They are sure getting working this week lol
